Function HealthReviews of functionhealth.com

I use this because lab tests used to cost me a fortune.. but now I can take more of the right ones for far less without the hassle of going to some weird building and waiting a long time. FH gets me my results fast. And on the tech side, I love how I can track trends and changes in my health on the app.

BEWARE! I joined Function Health late in 2024 and had two rounds two full blood tests (121 markers I believe). I did the full blood test with all the add on’s just to start a good comprehensive tracking of my numbers. I’m very focused on my health and I also get blood testing done from my GP yearly as well during my annual physical. My first test Function my numbers came back in-line with my typical numbers, so all’s good. My second blood test came back with horrendous numbers especially in the heart category. I was very surprised since nothing had changed with me so I figured an error in testing. I contacted them and they allowed I believe it was 4-5 retests out of the 121 test taken. The retest show all numbers back to normal where they should have been. This was in a 30-day span. So obviously the second test provided bad data. Not a big deal I thought I would just bring this to their attention and get a full retest since it was obvious the numbers were in error. To my surprise Function simply said no. I went through three levels of support people and all said no that they did not make a mistake. So for someone like me who spent over $2,000 in the first year with cancer screening and other screenings and full blood testing, it really didn’t sit well with me. Essentially, the way I looked at it was that they decided they could provide bad data, not provide a full retest, so it was as if they just decided to keep my $500 and have me pay another $500 for the next upcoming test. So as I said, beware of this company.

Function has transformed the way my family takes care of themselves. Usually there is so much information I need to talk to a doctor to understand what it means but with Function they explained it and helped me monitor it on my own rather than having to hear from a doctor about the aspects I hear every time. This lead to a nutrient deficiency overlooked and change my entire diet. My family of 5 are all members now!

I wanted to like this company and was initially impressed by their wide range of biomarker testing. However, my experience left me questioning their ethics. During checkout, I was shown an offer for a “free gift that must be redeemed in 5 days.” I read the message twice to be sure. I immediately thought of a close friend who is very ill, financially struggling, and without good insurance. This testing could have been life-changing for him. I gathered his information, filled out the redemption form, and tried to use the code they provided. The code didn’t work. Instead, I was prompted to pay nearly $500 for the so-called “free” gift. This was not only misleading, but deeply disappointing. I then had to go back to my friend and tell him that the offer wasn’t real, and that I couldn’t give him what I had promised. That conversation was painful and unnecessary. While their testing itself may be solid, this kind of bait-and-switch marketing is, in my opinion, unethical. I cannot in good conscience recommend Function Health and would suggest getting your test for half the cost directly from Quest (who they outsource the testing from.) The comprehensive test for male or female is the same for 200$ less. Quest also has customer service you can call.

The whole experience is clunky. The scheduling plug-in with Quest doesn't always work well, tests you pay for are omitted or not ordered (this is fraud at worst, negligence at best), the "clinician notes" read like they are all from Chat-GPT, you get better insight with a Google search. No customer service and zero contact options but some chat bot. If there is a human there, they don't apologize or take any responsibility for mistakes. You pay for what you get - a real functional doctor can offer real insights and personal touch points, this is a fancy looking portal to order tests from Quest Labs, nothing more, nothing less.

I was excited about the lab work as was my primary physician. It took a note to customer service to get clinician notes a month after lab results. The clinician notes were not informative at all. Even my physician agreed they didn't really say anything helpful. They simply recommend supplements and most are those I already reported as taking. Too much conflict there to indicate they did not look at all info I entered about my health, medications, and supplements as they related to test results. The website and process is still very beta and there are discrepancies across the site. For example, one page will say a test is included, and another page say it's not. Additionally, there was a scheduling mix up with the 2 lab visits. The urine test was supposed to be the second visit and they did it on the first one. I was not prepared so it wasn't a good sample. I will not pay for this again next year. Since I had to pay for a doc visit to review with me, it was not cost effective over having my provider order the same labs.

Two months and no results and can’t get in contact with the company. COMPLETE SCAM!!!

I was happy with blood tests and their doctor review but they automatically charge you $499 after your first year. Even when you don't want to keep the membership. I don't see the needs for this every year. But customer service is non-existent and they do not have the feature like all other companies to manage your membership online. I cannot believe Mark Hyman promotes this. After this I will never recommend this company to anyone else and I will never use them again. Waiting for my money to be refunded after many requests.
