BEWARE: Frigidaire Air Conditioners Prop 65 Warning
All of the many Frigidaire air conditioners I've researched have a Prop 65 Warning saying: WARNING! Cancer and Reproductive Harm So I called Frigidaire to ask which chemicals in their air conditioners require this warning...and was on hold for 24 minutes and then was abruptly disconnected. Then I asked this question on Frigidaire's Live Talk and was told that they don't have that information. So I asked to talk with a supervisor and was told to call the customer service line which had just disconnected me. When I asked where else I could find out this information, I was told to go to California's Prop 65 website for assistance. I replied that I'd already been to that site and that it doesn't provide any specific information by product or manufacturer and that it was starting to seem like Frigidaire does not want this information known. Their response was, "It's not that we don't want it known. There are over 900 chemicals that could be. We don't have a list of them all." Of course I was not asking about all 900 chemicals (unless all 900 are in their air conditioners), only the ones in their air conditioners that require a Prop 65 warning and replied that I would think Frigidaire knows exactly which chemicals these are and that this was setting off alarm bells. "So I've effectively hit a dead end–no consumer information on what cancer causing chemicals are in your products?" I wrote. "I expected better from Frigidaire and am going to inform others that this information is not forthcoming." Then she thanked me for chatting with them, wrote "Have a nice day!" and disconnected... Footnote: I also sent an email to Frigdaire over a week ago and have as yet received no response from them. Not only is their customer service terrible, the company appears shady.
