Back Office BS
Back Office BS If you are considering buying a Frigidaire product, I hope you will find the following letter that I sent to Frigidaire instructive. It lays out what I might call the "Back Office Two-step," a seemingly choreographed attempt to avoid making good on a promise of replacing the second of two faulty Frigidaire de-humidifiers. "In October 2021, I received a letter from Frigidaire/Electrolux advising me that they would replace a faulty de-humidifier that I had purchased for a vacation home. This letter followed a call from a representative of the store from which I purchased the original unit. I subsequently provided the requested information, and subsequently received your response advising me that I should allow 10 days to either receive the new unit or an alternative solution. All of the aforementioned communications are contained in the attachment to this message. "After waiting well over 10 days (exact date unrecalled), I called to inquire about the status of the replacement. I was told that it would be sent via UPS and was provided a tracking number. On 12/10/2021 I called UPS and was told that the package was lost in transit since 2 November and that an investigation would be opened. If not found, they would contact you and refund the shipping cost. On 12/23/2021, I called UPS again and was told they had cancelled the investigation due to lack of information regarding the contents of the package. They referred me back to you. That same day, I called your Customer Service Office and, after a lengthy wait, spoke to a rep who told me that another unit would be sent and that I should allow 3-5 days for delivery. I was also promised that a tracking number would be provided, but that never happened. "In the interim, we sold the vacation house for which the de-humidifier had been used. We were forced to purchase a new unit before the house was transferred. "On 1/4/2022, I tried to call Customer Service, but an automated message advised that all reps were busy and that I should call back. I called back later, and was put on hold. Wait time was over an hour. I didn't have an hour to spare, so terminated the call. On 1/7/2022, I spoke to a Customer Service rep who advised that the matter had been referred to the "back office" for action. When I pointed out that the previous rep had told me on 23 December that a new unit would be sent immediately, this new rep told me that the matter had been sent to the "back office" that same day - 23 December. "On 2/15/2022, I called and was informed that the previous rep "forgot" to send the request to the "back office." She assured me that she would make sure to send it herself, and that I should allow 3-5 days for an update. When I asked to speak to a manager, she said the manager was not taking calls. I asked whether I could simply get my money back, since we had already purchased a replacement unit. She said she'd sent that request to the "back office." "On 3/1/2022, I spoke to "Alex," who said there was no update from the "back office." Said he'd send a request to the "back office" and that I should allow 3-5 days... He said there was nobody else I could talk to, but that I could send any complaint I had to the same place that sent the original email. Which was you. "I tried one final time to call Customer Service today, just for the joy of being told they were still waiting on the "back office" to take some action. Much to my surprise, I was put on hold. I eventually gave up -- which I have to assume was the desired outcome from Customer Service's perspective. "Your original letter said, "We feel that the best way to assist you is to offer you a replacement unit. Unit will be shipped via UPS." So, I am writing to ask that you do what your Customer Service representatives cannot seem to do, and send me the promised replacement unit or a financial reimbursement. "In reply, I received the very same automatic reply that I received on 10/21.2021; "...you should allow 10 business days to either receive your new unit or an alternative..." Update: 12/05/2022: No subsequent contact of any sort from Fridigaire/Electrulux was ever received. I called Customer Service to make one last attempt to get them to send the promised unit. Spoke to "Zayne" who looked up the Case number and told me I needed to talk to the "Relevant Team" that was handling my claim. Gave me a different number, but it took me through the very same automated questions and right back to another Customer Service rep. She took the case number, looked it up - and the line went dead. Called back, got another Rep, who took the case number - and hung up. At least we didn't do the Back Office Two-Step. If you choose to do business with Frigidaire, good luck to you. I personally will not do so again.
