The filing was easy. The only frustrating part is that for 2 years in a row I paid to have my taxes printed and mailed to me. I have not received them from either year. Trying to reach someone is virtually impossible. I’m disappointed in having to deal with this.

Hi! We're so glad you found our software easy to use. The printed copy will take about 3-4 weeks after the return has been finalized to be printed and mailed to you. If you have not received it after that time, our support agents would be happy to look into it. We offer customer support free of charge through direct messages within your account and most customers will receive an answer within just a few hours. If you have not heard back from our support team, we would like to look into this more. We have sent you a request for more information. UPDATE: Thank you for providing that information. I started using Freetaxusa to file my taxes and some friends in 2023 and it was great, but in 2024 everything changed, The system keeps declining the credit card to pay tje state tax return fee for no reasons. Sometimes we use our debit cards and different credit cards but that doesn't work. It's a pain. I think this is the last year we'll be using Freetaxusa. Waste of time and energy

Such a Rip off...I wasn't able to file electronically after doing my return. I mailed a paper tax return but forgot to remove their bank. They charged me $40 total pit of my state return that was only $67.00. Good riddance to them. I won't use them again and I stopped advising people to use it

At FreeTaxUSA, the preparation and e-filing of your federal return is 100% free. We will not surprise you with an additional fee to prepare and file your federal return like some of our competitors have been known to do. If you wish to file your state return with us, we do charge a fee, but that fee is the lowest in the industry. This fee is the same regardless if the return is mailed or e-filed. We feel that we provide a great self-prepared tax return service at a very low price. There is no obligation to file the state return that is prepared or order any additional item or service. If you choose to pay for any of our optional services with your refund, there is an additional fee for that service. On the other hand, if you pay for any of our services using a credit card, there are no additional fees.

Our software will prepare the forms and transmit them to the IRS based on the information entered in your account. As long as you click the Save button on each screen, any information that you have entered will be saved. In the 'Final Steps' menu, you'll be given the opportunity to review your returns prior to submission. Additionally, if you are due a refund, the software will guide you to a screen to add/update banking information for direct deposit prior to submitting your return. We have several products and services available that are completely optional in order to meet the needs of our customers, including service upgrades. There is never any obligation to purchase the additional products and services that are available, however, and you may always reach out to our support team free of charge. If you purchased something that doesn’t meet your expectations, we’d be happy to make it right. Please sign in to your account and click the “Support” link. If something happens and I don’t get my return, I’ll change this rating. But that was a lot easier than TurboTax and a whole hell of a lot cheaper. I don’t have a complicated return, I shouldn’t pay what I’ve been paying the last couple years.

I've been using FreeTaxUSA ever since I needed to file my taxes, so 4 years now. It's always been a great experience. I've had to contact support twice total to clarify what the software was asking, and both times they clearly answered all of my questions within a day. Even when you don't qualify for free state returns, it is an excellent value.
