I’ve been a Disappointing Transparency and Practices from FNBO Amtrak Rewardscardholder with FNBO’s…
I’ve been a cardholder with FNBO’s Amtrak Guest Rewards credit card, and unfortunately, the experience has been far from smooth. When I requested a credit limit increase, FNBO failed to disclose any reason for the denial—despite initiating hard inquiries across all major credit bureaus within seconds. That kind of aggressive credit hit, without explanation, is excessive and unnecessary. To make matters worse, the annual fee simply appears on your statement with no prior notice. There’s no heads-up, no courtesy reminder—just a charge that leaves you no time to cancel or reconsider. Nearly every other major card issuer offers soft pulls for credit limit reviews and sends advance alerts before renewal fees hit. FNBO’s approach feels outdated and inconsiderate of the customer experience. If you value transparency, fair credit practices, and basic communication, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. This card may offer travel perks, but the backend policies are a frustrating ride.
Response from FNBO (First National Bank of Omaha)Oct 6, 2025
David, we appreciate you voicing your concerns, and would like to take a moment to address them. When submitting a credit limit increase request, we will attempt to approve your request based on internal information that we have available. However, if we are unable to approve the request based on this information, a credit bureau inquiry will be pulled. If the request is declined, a letter is mailed that explains the factors leading to the decision. If your account has an annual membership fee, a note will be included on the statement prior to the fee billing that provides the date when the fee will post to your account. If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call us at 888-530-3626, or submit a secure message from our website. We will be happy to help.
