Applied for this account on 28th August. As of today (21st Sept) all I have received is two emails saying "we are processing your application but we are very busy..." etc. So totally hopeless. If they ever do open my account I will close it immediately. I have opened many internet/app type accounts over the last couple of years and never encountered this kind of inertia .

Took over 5 weeks to finally open account! I’m already a customer with NatWest so this should have been a formality. Went through application process smoothly but then was told there was a problem due to being so busy. Taking weeks to open an account is a joke these days. They have honoured the advertised rate even though it was withdrawn and now the account is open it seems, to be running smoothly so have upgraded my original one star review. NatWest don’t branch out into inferior twigs, otherwise you will ruin your good reputation! Fingers crossed the reliability I have received with NatWest over the last 40 years will continue with First Active.

Like others, this has been a pathetically poor experience. Applied on the 28th of August, received a couple of update emails and then 2 "sorry it's taking so long" messages. Last email was 10 days ago. If only we could give 0 stars.

This is an appalling savings account that is typical of anything to do with NatWest. Three emails apologising for delays and then nothing for three weeks now. So five weeks have passed and still account not open. Communication is impossible with them. Don’t waste your time they may offer a good interest rate but if you can’t actually access it what’s the point.

Total waste of time. Repeated apologies for failure to open the account, despite confirming no problem with the application. However, rates have gone up now, so plenty of choice elsewhere. Avoid.

Absolute shambles is how I’d describe it. Been waiting 4 weeks since applying for an account. Had several “sorry it’s taking so long” email's, but they’ve stopped now. It appears that it’s luck of the draw if you get an account sorted quickly as some customers are getting sorted within an hour or so and others like me are waiting forever. I’ve been a NatWest customer for 39 years, that clearly hasn’t helped in my case. Think I’m going to cut my losses and put my savings in a more efficient bank.

Ive tried to close my account - at moment they don’t seem to know how to do that @ send interest accrued to my nominated account—I have now withdrawn all monies in my account with them (while I can )—ahead of hoped for closure -(I have lost faith in NAT WEST Group it’s a complete shambles ! )- with a rate of 4.55 % -we can all do better placing our money with a better non shambolic provider- Graham!

Shocking. Now 15 days into a verification process and no update for the last 6 days beyond generic emails. Save yourself the hassle and take your business elsewhere. Monument offer 4.56% AER and account was opened, checked and verified in under 5 minutes.
