Declined a condition I didn’t know my dog had.
I adopted a dog recently and took her to the vet to get checked up and fetch determined that they wouldn’t cover her heart treatment because it was discovered that she has a heart murmur which I didn’t know about since I just adopted her. I think it should be more clear what is deemed as pre-existing. I understand they don’t want people to take advantage of their claims but in this situation I adopted a dog, took her to the vet and discovered it for the first time. What is the point of having insurance proactively if they are going to decline this?

Hi Candice, we know how upsetting and confusing it can be to learn that a condition isn’t eligible for coverage when you weren’t previously aware of it. We’d like the opportunity to review your claim with you and answer any questions you have about how pre-existing conditions are determined. Please give our team a call at 866-509-0163 (Option 5) so we can take a closer look.
