Fender’s has no quality control and should be embarrassed to put their name on junk.
I purchased the Fender Black Tolex Guitar display case from an authorized Fender dealer and not directly through fender.com. That being said this is a Fender issue NOT the vendor’s. I wasn’t we to hang my guitar on the wall but I wanted to protect it from dust and whatever else. I saw this and thought it was pretty cool. I thought about making my own but thought it’d better to buy one because I never worked with Tolex of upholstered anything. I found a good deal (I thought) and purchased one. When I received it the acrylic glass was seemed as though if you applied a little pressure to it it would just fall right off. Well 6 out of the 10 screws holding the wood wrapped Tolex running vertically on each side to hold the plexiglass in place were stripped out and 1 of the 2 screws (top and bottom) that actually run through the plexiglass and into the display door was completely stripped out. So I fixed it my self. Then while working on that I noticed that the stitching on the outside too and bottom of the case that “stitches” the two pages of Tolex together were coming unglued and lifting up from one end to the other. The whole reason I didn’t make one is because I didn’t want it to turn out exactly like what has ended up happening with this one MADE BY FENDER. I honestly don’t even trust this to safely hold my guitar. So I’m going to use this as inspiration to make my own. That inspiration is everything to NOT do that Fender should be absolutely ashamed and embarrassed to have their name on and sell it! And you know what? Now seeing it I know I can definitely make one, but I’m going to do it better! They have no quality control or just care so little that they don’t care to sale junk and trash the Fender name to the point where they’ll be signing a contract with Walmart in no time. One day you’ll be trying to decided between a First Act or a Fender for your child’s first throwaway guitar.
