[UPDATED] Fender/Gretsch took nearly two weeks to tell me a pickguard screw and spacer are “proprietary”
Update:
After posting this review, Fender reached back out to me with a senior customer relations specialist. This was a totally different experience where the rep went out of his way to source the correct screw as well as send me some extras as an apology for the service up to that point.
Fender took care of me and I am updating my review. My only word of advice to Fender is to train lower-level reps better so customers don't have to resort to public reviews just to be heard.
Original Review:
Bought a used Gretsch Electromatic G5655TG. I asked Fender/Gretsch for the OEM dimensions of two pieces of hardware: a pickguard screw and spacer.
Nearly two weeks and multiple replies later, they first sent me parts for the wrong model, then repeatedly redirected me to third-party retailers after I explicitly explained I wanted OEM specifications. When I pushed back, they said they were contacting their Gretsch representative for the actual information.
After all that, the final answer was that the dimensions are “proprietary.”
So Fender apparently can’t provide the correct parts for its own guitar, repeatedly ignores what the customer is actually asking for, and then takes nearly two weeks to ultimately refuse to provide the dimensions of a screw and spacer.
Apparently ‘Player Experience Representative’ means making sure the player experiences as little useful customer service as possible.

Hi Cramer - thanks for this. Sorry this ordeal went on for so long as well. We're usually quicker than this! I have the correct screw that you need in hand. If you would respond to Nathan with your address, we'll get it sent to you. Thanks again.

Very kind and efficient customer support
I bought my first mexican Fender guitar, and I ordered it directly from Fender’s website.
There was a initial hiccup with my order, and I had a hard time reaching the French speaking customer support line.
When I tried the English speaking one, I was immediately connected with Tobi.
He was really helpful and fixed my issue quickly.
I really appreciated his support.
I rate 4 stars only because of the difficulty of joining the French hotline. If you can’t speak English, then it’s harder to get support, which I find unfair.

Thank you Guillaume. Happy to hear that Tobi was able to take such good care of you.

Complicated order with both exceptional and poor customer service
This is a complicated transaction with both exceptional and extremely poor customer service.
I ordered three ModShop guitars (Jazzmaster, Telecaster, Stratocaster) on 9/16/26. On 9/17/26, it was discovered there was an error with one of the guitars. I brought it to the attention of David Lansing (Supervisor, Player Experience Representative) and things got worse from there. David asserted he was the supervisor and could handle the issue. Unfortunately, the only solutions David presented were to cancel and reorder. This was not feasible as this order was a bundled purchase and cancelling one of the guitars and reordering would change the T&Cs of the financing. It got even worse from there when David unliterally cancelled the Jazzmaster. David did not discuss with me first; he just canceled it of his own volition. I requested that the Jazzmaster be immediately reinstated and this be escalated to his supervisor in several separate emails and requested a supervisor contact me by COB on Friday, 9/18/26. To my knowledge there was no escalation per my request and I did not receieve a call.
On Monday, 9/21/26, I received an email from David stating he was discussing with all management and he would update me ASAP. Later that evening, I responded to David providing more clarity and again requested the Jazzmaster be immediately reinstated with the neck I originally ordered.
On Tuesday, 9/22/26, I received an email from David advising me ModShop Coordinator Bradley would be contacting me at their convenience. At approximately 3:00PM, I received a call from Bradley Shelton. Brad and I discussed the issues and I advised him of all of my concerns-including David's failure to escalate as requested, his lack of customer service, failure to recognize the implications of unilaterally canceling the Jazzmaster, and in my view completely minimizing my business. I also told Brad my intent was to create legacy guitars that I could pass down to my kids. This was very important to me being a stage 4 cancer survivor. Brad told me he would speak to some other managers within the company and get back to me.
On Wednesday, 9/23/26, at approximately 8:17AM, I received a call from Brad. Brad told me he was able to correct the issues with the Jazzmaster and have it reinstated. Brad displayed exceptional customer service and problems solving. He did not simply disregard relevant issues or minimize my business. Brad went above and beyond to make the deal right. Employees like Brad are vital to the continued success of Fender Musical Instruments Corporation.
I have a great deal of respect and admiration for the brand. Brad has also earned my respect-more importantly potential future business. Had Brad not been able to correct the issues, I was fully prepared to cancel the entire order based on how I was treated by David.
I wish to commend Brad for his exceptional customer service, diligence, problem solving, and communication skills. Brad is truly an asset to Fender. I also would like to request that Fender provide David with additional training so Fender can avoid future complaints about him.
Please understand I wanted to recognize Brad for his efforts and call to your attention the issues with David. I believe it is important to recognize and praise those employees, like Brad, who go above and beyond. Complaints should be balanced with commendations where possible and appropriate.
I gave this experience four stars based on Brad's intervention. He was able to successfully correct the issues and did a great job at converting a customer into a repeat customer. Had Brad not been involved, this transaction would likely have been completely cancelled, and I would have been left with an unequivocal awful experience and would have never done business with Fender again.
Please accept my appreciation and gratitude for Brad's efforts.

Asked how to get a replacement for a fairly easy to source part for a model still made, but they wanted me to show a proof of purchase on a 20 year old custom shop guitar just to proceed. They are supposed to be a guitar company not Walmart.
EDIT: They made good on finding the part.

Hey Joe
I want to say once my issue was elevated to the appropriate person”Joe” Fender went above and beyond to resolve the issue. I ordered my GBHRD from Amazon from a page that looked like a storefront for fender with the fender logo and visit store link. I ordered 03/30/26 and received on 04/02/26. Out of the box after allowing the tubes to warm up following a visual inspection I plug in and out comes the beautiful sound of silence. I had just received the most expensive paperweight of my life. Power tubes were lit but no life from the front end. So I get on the phone with Fender the first time with a fender employee who seemed genuinely surprised that I was calling fender with a problem with an amp with their name on it. He quickly informed me that I needed to deal with who sold me the amp. Now friends irate does not adequately describe how I felt to be told 1200 dollars does not get me an amplifier the company will stand by. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was hung up on… at this point I really feel cheated. I go through the 4 hours long process of dealing with Amazon returns to be told they would get a new amp to me after 05/21/26. Nearly two months later!! Then I get a call from “Joe” the hero of this story. Joe was eager to help. He didn’t care where I bought the amp with their name on it. He only cared that it did have the fender name and that I have a good experience associated with that name. That last part was good old school business the kind that built fender in the first place. Joe sent me a shipping label via email I got it in the post the following morning and by that evening Joe let me know the new model is being overnighted. Joe and Fender won my loyalty by standing behind their product. I hadn’t realized the branded storefront wasn’t run by fender. And legally they probably did not have to take care of me. But in the end they took responsibility because they value their name and know that no matter where you buy a fender product you see yourself as a fender customer regardless of who shipped it to you. I would love to give a fifth star but for the first phone call and the dead amp of course. P.S give Joe a raise!

I recently purchased an EVH 5150III 2x12 cabinet and one of the speakers completely failed almost immediately, and yes, it was correctly powered with a matched Ohm rating in accordance with it’s stated parameters.
I wrote customer service and Mark B. immediately responded, which I very much appreciated. I was disappointed to discover that they were unable to just swap out the speaker for me but Mark was able to offer me reimbursement in the form of merchandise of equal value from their catalog.
Mark was very friendly, attentive and helpful throughout the process so because of that I am satisfied with the resolution.
Shoutout to Mark B.!

Thanks Scott. I'll be sure to push this up to the EVH product team for their visibility. Glad Mark hooked you up.

Fender Sonoran Mini
