I raised American home shield(ahs) warranty claim on Nov' 2020 to fix broken two shower faucets and two toilets in my home. I paid the $75 service fee. They assigned two plumbing contractors J and K Plumbing (first time) and Service First Plumbing (second time) to fix it. First Plumber (J and K Plumbing) came on 11/23/2020 and reported excessive water pressure of 120 psi and left. I purchased a new water pressure gauge and checked the pressure and it's showing me 70 psi. AHS denied the claim 12/10/2020. When I complained that there is no excessive pressure, and asked for a second opinion , they assigned plumber Service contractors plumbing on 12/10/2020. The second contractor Service contractors plumbing, came on 12/14/2020 and measured the water pressure in front of me and reported its normal. The second contractor reported that shower faucets broke because of manufacturer's defect or excessive force. How can anyone classify a shower faucet where the easiest piece to fail is a cartridge say its a manufacturer's defect after they failed after 5 years. It cannot be excessive force because you cannot touch the shower cartridge to apply force on it. Also the second contractor claimed he fixed the toilet flush filling up slowly, which he did not. Since its still taking 10-15 min to fill up, I had to get it repaired. AHS denied the claim after the seond opinion on 12/15/2020. I requested AHS to send me the denial reason on 12/15/2020. AHS reason(s) for denial is not consistent also. After first contractor visit, they said they are denying under Section I, Item 6B. After second contractor visit, they said they are denying under Section I, Item 6D. At this point I asked them to send the details of denying again, along with the analysis of the contractors, but they just sent a 1 liner under which they denied. I called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing on 12/25/2020 and scheduled them for 12/28/2020. They came and checked and gave me a quote for two shower faucets repair and 1 toilet flush repair. I accepted the quote, they repaired it and left. Then I opened resolution with FairShake and they send AHS a certified letter demanding payment. Inside 15 days AHS responded additional documentation. I sent the photos and invoice provided by Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and they approved my claim inside a week. I liked the service of FairShake, but I think charging me 20% is expensive. In my view, they should have charged AHS that amount as a fee, since they did not do it in the first place.
