Man I wished I read these reviews beforehand...…
Man I wished I read these reviews before signing up! I cancelled my subscription on the 1st June 2024 using the online form. I even had renewal offer (71% off subscription) sent to me via email on the 4th June so I thought all was well - until I got charged £24 on the 17th June. I immediately emailed them (I only found their email through Paypal - I could not find this on the website) requesting a refund as my subscription should have been cancelled. I recieved an email back from Katie saying that my subscription was not cancelled but that she had now cancelled it for me. As Katie was a junior member of staff she did not have authority to provide a refund but she has passed this on to a senior member of staff for consideration (absolutely fair enough - so far not bad customer service). 3 working days go by and I still had not recieved a response so I sent a polite email chasing this. I recieve an email promptly back from a senior member of staff Jessica saying that I am not eligable for a refund as the goods have been provided and are non-refundable, but she is happy to cancel my subscription for me. I responded saying that I cancelled my subscription so I did not ask for the goods and therefore I expect a full refund. I also stated that Katie should of cancelled the subscription but can this pleased be confirmed as I do not want to be charged again. Jessica response was a copy anf paste of their small print T&Cs (no confirmation of the subscription being cancelled as I previously requested). I copied the line that stated that the subscription needs to be cancelled within 48 hours and stated that I did this! I followed their T&Cs and it is not my fault that the staff did not honour my request to cancel my subscription. I was then asked to provide proof. As I had no reciept or confirmation of my form I did not have proof of the message I sent - however I sent them a copy of the offer emails i recieved on the 4th and 8th June as proof that my subscription was cancelled. Since then I have heard nothing! I have now raised this with Paypal (although it appears Paypal tend to side with Effecto so I am not holding my breath). As it turns out my pre-approved payments were still active which means I would of been charged again the next month if it was not for me cancellingthe payments! The absolute best advice i can give you is avoid at all costs! However if you are with Effecto and want to cancel your subscription heres some advice: Use all contact methods necessary to cancel your subscription. Send them an email if you can find it AND fill out the online form. Keep the email you sent in your saved folder and screenshot the completed form you sent on the website and timestamp if possible. After cancelling your subscription immediately ensure all future payments are cancelled with your bank. If you used Paypal ensure you cancel the pre-approved payments to avoid getting charged again.
