I have one donor who introduced me to donatestock for a end of year donation in 2021--Handled with no problems. In 2022 the same donor used donatestock again--this year donatestock arrange a match to the donation thereby increasing significantly our donation. Second year using DS for charitable stock giving and I’m hooked. Impressive efficiency. My stock donation was completely processed in less than 24 hours - I only initiated it on December 29. Even my brokerage firm of 40 years said it was too late to process through them for a 2022 contribution. (caveat is that it may take longer if you do your donation on their website after hours or on the weekend- and it may take a while before you get the receipt from the charity but the DS receipt was all I submitted with my taxes last year and it was fine). DS has user-friendly website with easy drop-down menu. Took about 5 minutes per donation, while my broker required paperwork, uploading to a secure site and no assurance of current year contribution status. DS assured me that any initiated stock transactions before midnight Dec 31 will count for current year. This worked just as they promised last year, as I did all my donations through them Dec 31. I’ve experienced speedy, responsive customer service assistance too. They do charge a fee to the charity, but I’ve confirmed to a few charities that told me the DS handling fee is reasonable and saves them considerable admin time on the receiving end. The BEST is that my 2022 donations in excess of $1000 per charity are topped off with 2k by DS - until midnight tomorrow. Big win for everyone- especially the charities, and I was willing to give a bit more to make sure the charities could benefit. I’m really pleased with the service.

We have just signed up with DonateStock and are very impressed with the responsive of the team; the quality of the staff member who led the instructional webinar; and the ease with which our small non-profit was able to register on the site. It took perhaps 5 minutes to register and the back and forth emails with company took another 5 minutes. Registering with a brokerage firm would have taken 5-10 days. We have not yet secured a donation so I will be happy to report back when that is accomplished.

I have used Donatestock.com twice before with no issues: it is efficient, intuitive, and helpful. I have previously used a brokerage directly (Vanguard, specifically), which saves on a very small commission, but is complicated and painful and took several hours to figure out. Especially for someone new to the process, it is worth it to use this process, for both the non-profit recipient and the donor. The tax benefits of donating stock vs. cash are major and often underappreciated by donors: in most cases, most people should be donating stock to ensure their money goes further in helping the causes they care about. The customer service team is responsive.
