Not really 'Free/No Cost"
I read their "free/no cost to me" marketing, later finding the fine print that they take 3% of the donation amount away from the non profit recipient for nothing more than initiating the request. I could have sent the same request to the brokerage holding the stock just as easily and saved them stealing 3% from the non-profit. So I contacted the non-profit after two weeks just to make sure the request was submitted and they have not received it yet.

Hello Bob - as you are aware from our discussions with the school and their brokerage that the transaction failed because your brokerage (AST Financial) did not execute the DTC stock transfer per your valid request. If you would like to use any of the other 80+ brokerages we work with, we'd love to make this happen for you. Regarding our fees: we provide a much-needed service to nonprofits of all sizes for about half of what they pay for credit card donations (5-6% with platform and merchant processing fees). Unlike credit cards and paypal, we also cap fees on large gifts. We prominently disclose our fees and provide high-touch service to make sure things go as smooth as possible. We're sorry this wasn't the case with AST - we hope we have an opportunity to try again.
