As a host, I give DogVacay high marks for it's organizational, ethical standards, and for the support of it's hosts. Also for the care it shows for the dogs and their owners. Easily one of the very BEST businesses I have ever had dealings with.

Mostly A Paw-sitive Experience :)
Hello all -
Overall, my husband and I have been very pleased with our experiences on DogVacay. The platform is easy to use, and you can get started quickly. The main advantage of DogVacay is that there seems to be no need for advertisement outside of it, besides the great "word of mouth" recommendations that come from existing pup parents. I really like the website's setup, and I contribute much of our success to DogVacay. I also LOVE it when they surprise us with gifts or flowers in the mail.
If this is truly a review meant to keep DogVacay abreast of our real opinions, here are some things we think could be proved upon:
- 15% commission seems to be rather high for the services rendered by DogVacay. On one hand, you don't need to pay for advertisement. You could buy your own insurance for your business and use Google Calendars and Email to organize your business for much less than what they take out per year. Their insurance has a $250 to $300 deductible, and it does not protect the thing most likely to be damaged: your home (and many other things - check carefully). For those of who are heavily involved in this, you know how much TIME and PATIENCE it takes; it's a little frustrating to give them $1 for every $6.66 you earn when you work your butt off for your clients. On the other hand, being a member of DogVacay greatly simplifies the process of hosting pups in your home vs. doing things on your own. You could save time... or you could save money. ;)
- The thing I have to contact them the most about drives me absolutely nuts: needing to alter reservations after they've been booked. I personally think we should be able to have some control over this.
- If they are going to charge such a significant percentage, I wish that they would volunteer to withhold taxes for you, like AirBnB started doing this year.
Again, I want to highlight the fact that our experience with DogVacay has mostly been positive. I've been a part of several other websites, most notably including Rover.com, and DogVacay is by far the best out of them (in my opinion). They are also continuing to make changes that I believe are for the better. I'm really looking forward to some of the changes I've learned are in the making, such as being able to offer different prices for holidays, weekdays, and weekends. If you love dogs and have considered opening yourself to the craziness of hosting local pups in your home, I highly suggest you experiment with DogVacay.

I appreciate the fact that Dog Vacay always stays in touch with me, checks to see if they can help me in anyway and when I do, they are quick to respond. Always a happy staff that is willing to help and always positive attitudes. Never had an issue or negative response from you. Thank you for being there for me and other dog lovers.

Great Company
DogVacay treats their hosts and clients very well. I've told countless people what a treat it is to be a host for this company. This company's model of how they treat their hosts and clients should be modeled everywhere. When my client's elder pup passed away at my home DogVacay was there to offer support and counseling to both myself and the client. My client was delivered a bouquet of flowers and phoned me to tell me how very touched by this her and her husband were. When I was bit by a client's dog DogVacay sent me a get well soon package. While reviewing a client's animal, I had shared that a pup loved to potty on my rug and DogVacay paid for me to have the rug steam cleaned. I can't say enough great things about this company. You guys really really are just wonderful people to work for.

Pretty good but there could be some changes
As a host I use the app a lot. I think you guys could make a few changes to the app and I also know of some changes that could be brought to the website as well to help people when finding a host. I have sent some feedback a while ago. Im not sure if you guys have gotten to it.
