As a global Merchant of Record, Dodo Payments is legally responsible for charging, collecting, and remitting applicable taxes based on the customer’s location, not the merchant’s turnover or business size. This means GST can be applied to customer transactions even if your own business has not crossed the ₹20 lakh threshold. GST is calculated on the total transaction value, collected from the customer, and remitted by Dodo Payments directly to the government as part of our statutory obligations. The collected GST is our tax liability as the Merchant of Record and is deducted from the gross amount before payout to you. If you are GST registered, you can report these sales using the payout invoice issued by Dodo Payments while filing your GST returns.
