geeze.... I'm really surprised to see all the low ratings.... I've placed many many many orders with Blicks over the last few years and all have gone smoothly. I think, once, I ordered an OBNOXIOUS amount of open stock pencils - like over a hundred (Im frankly embarrassed to admit that I did that but I wasn't thinking of the warehouse person having to pull all those while I placed my order at 3am while dribbling ice cream down my shirt like a slob and they were all different colors too no duplicates) - and they accidentally gave me two of one pencil and left out one I had ordered. I was pretty impressed with that - I don't think I could pull 100 open stock colored pencils and only mess up on one! They let me keep the extra and sent the one that was missing free of charge. Sometimes I'm frustrated that orders usually take ten days to get to me... but then I remember that I've been slowly groomed by certain other companies (that start with an A and end with a zon) to be an impatient twerp and I chill right out. Cause free 2 day shipping isn't the standard - and for companies who do it it comes at a cost to someone. Maybe they're paying their warehouse employees less wages or benefits. Maybe they've struck deals with package carriers that drive the cost of shipping from their own company down while driving the cost of shipping for everyone else in the world up. Maybe they're luring you in with cheap 2 day shipping because they are softening you up and priming you and your family for the inevitable AI takeover of your sad little lives. Maybe witchcraft makes the packages come in two days or less. Maybe they've found some other secret way to cut corners to get super cheap or free two day shipping but it's not standard. Stuff takes time when you ship it - That's standard. And I will tell you something else about ordering art supplies from certain other companies with free two day shipping - sometimes when my stuff gets here it is JACKED UP. Like they threw the full set of faber castel color pencils that weigh as much as a brick in with a bunch of really fragile lightweight flimsy things and barley any padding... stuff gets broken - packages full of art supplies from the two day shipping place usually look like someone was fleeing for their life and the last thing they had to do before they could make they're harrowing get away was throw all my crap in a box and send it out the door as fast as they could. Its been a constant issue with art supplies from the other place - and I haven't experienced it with blicks - things have always come very well packaged. Blicks shipping isn't slow... it's exactly standard - plan your life accordingly. I love going to their brick and mortar stores - the staff has always been friendly to me and they don't mean mug me while I pet the art supplies and coo softly. There's one right down the street from my grocery store and I usually go there weekly 'to get just one thing' and walk out like uh-oh.... what am I buying food with now? I prefer going to the brick and mortar store to shopping online partly because I'm a sucker for instant gratification, partly because I like to see stuff in person and partly because I want it to stay open for a long time. Also, I'm THAT person at blicks brick and mortar store - the person who used the open stock markers to draw a big ole happy looking C+B on the test pad right before you got there. You always wondered who that was - now you know. Ya can't do THAT online! Blick's brick and mortar store also gives my many cats a once weekly two hour reprieve from their deep rooted fears that in my loneliness I will use their fur to knit tiny sweaters that I will subsequently force them to wear out in public. Plus OMG there's SO many art supplies there!

I order from this company on a monthly basis. I have received quality products and the customer service has been excellent.

Some of the products are really wonderful, and their customer service is good. I have twice now but a canvas in a float frame and have been disappointed both times. The frames are lousy quality, they are pot marked, they have glue on them. They are just a poor quality product.

I am disabled and have no income but wanted to buy some art supplies with what little tax refund I had received. I have never purchased from DickBlick.com before and I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out what I wanted to buy, even unto the last minute. Of course I always consider holding off on ordering and holding onto my money because, again, disabled, no income, etc. I filled out my info on the order pages and as I was reading through the confirmation page before submitting the order (and debating on whether to actually order, change something, or wait), my phone vibrates and a text message tells me that $XX.XX amount of money has been removed from my debit card. The exact amount of the DickBlick.com order on my screen. Apparently they take your money even if you don't actually place the order. Because I didn't (at first). I touched NOTHING on the screen. As I said above, I was reading through the confirmation page BEFORE the submitting of the order, y'know, where you make sure your order and information is correct first. I also didn't even receive an order confirmation email until I actually hit the submit order button as well. My thoughts were "Well feck, they've already taken my money WITHOUT ME ACTUALLY SUBMITTING AN ORDER, I better actually submit the order or I probably won't get anything." Then I instantly received the order confirmation email. From what I've been reading, cancelling the order is a horrendous hassle, and I'm certainly not returning and paying for that out of my own pocket. Now while I'm still on the fence about whether I should order or hold off, I would eventually have put an order of some kind in. BUT DON'T TAKE MY MONEY UNTIL I AGREE TO GIVE IT TO YOU! This has definitely left a sour taste in my mouth and made my very first purchase with this company be my last.

Blick has a good paint selection, but can not be helpful with challenging questions regarding their products, and seem not to be willing to learn or research. Some of the employees in product research have even been rude. I was shocked how rude Patrick in product information was toward me, and how he seemed to know little about the product I was inquiring about.

I placed an order two days ago, and I found out that the items haven't been shipped yet. I think it's from pure laziness and it is a bad business conduct.

I ordered the wrong items and tried to cancel within hours of realizing my mistake. I called at 7 am as soon at customer service opened and Blick said that the order was in process and could not be stopped. I tracked the package using the FedEx number that was in the shipping confirmation I recieved and discovered that the shipping info wasn't even sent to FedEx until 10 am and the package didn't arrive at FedEx until 9 pm. Blick certainly had plenty of time to pull the package before putting it on a truck. Blick says I can return the items if I wish but I'll have to pay the return shipping. They've apologized but refuse to send me a prepaid return shipping label. Fortunately I paid with PayPal and opened a case so that I can get them to pay for the return shipping. Next time I'll use Artists and Craftsman Supply.

I ordered my materials from Blick Art Materials for many years but not in the past few. Things have really changed. I placed an order on January 22. I needed these materials for class on the 29th. When I went to check out I saw free shipping for orders over $35, I entered the promo code. My order was $98. I would not have imagined changing to the free shipping because I was spending more would make my shipment change to 7-9 day shipping -- seriously? In today's world of Amazon and such? It took two and half days for the shipment tracking to update that it even left the facility. I live 3 hours south of where the shipment left. It went 3 hours north of Galesburg and now has to go 6 hours south. They really go out of their way to make customers unhappy. I called to cancel my order and issue a return before I even received it because I needed it before 9 days. Of course in the name of good customer service she informed me I would be responsible for the return shipping cost. I am more than happy to give my money to Hobby Lobby, Art Mart, Michaels and Amazon.
