We’re sorry to hear about your experience. CHIRP+ 2 should connect directly to your phone through its own Wi-Fi signal – no mobile hotspot or internet connection is required. Please try this: 1. Put your sonar in a bowl with water with top cover attached tightly. 2. Go to Wi-Fi settings of your phone, and connect to the Wi-Fi network of the Deeper. When prompted, select "Always connect to this network" 3. Then, open the FishDeeper app and grant any permissions it may ask for. And remember - the sonar can only connect with your phone on it's in the water (or connected to a charger) and your phone is linked to the Wi-Fi of the sonar. Wind and rain should not prevent the sonar from working, but they can affect connection range. CHIRP+ 2 communicates with your phone over Wi-Fi, so rough water can intermittently obstruct the signal between the sonar and phone, while heavy rain can also reduce Wi-Fi range. Keeping the phone elevated and reeling it at a slow and steady pace should help. We can give you additional tips based on your actual way of using the sonar.
