The Pharmacy Tech consented on my behalf
I went to pick up my prescription at the CVS Pharmacy at 5501 Brainerd Rd in Chattanooga TN. The pharmacy tech consented on the screen without allowing me to read what I was consenting to. To be clear, in the signature box, the tech was drawing a line and hitting the button to consent, which might as well be forgery. When I called it out, the pharmacist, Kendall, claimed that I was being rude and disrespectful and told me that they wouldn’t be filling my prescriptions. It’s clear that this is common practice at this particular store, considering how fast the tech was moving between screens. The screen that the tech consented to was regarding the marketing disclosure - I’m pretty sure that this goes against US email and SMS marketing regulations to opt in on someone’s behalf. The rude pharmacist was just the icing on the cake.
