I went travelling for four years and constantly used Couchsurfing (CS). If you don't know how to use it - it can be frustrating which is why I think it has such a low score on Trustpilot. However, I saved so much money using CS but more than that - I have developed relationships with people from all over the world. Some of my best friends were found on CS and I don't think this app gets the credit it deserves. Honestly, as cheesy as it sounds, this app changed my life because without it, I wouldn't have been able to travel all over the world. So yes, I absolutely love it!

I have had a trip to meet people in a certain town in Canada. I met many cough surfers. They are friendly to meet, but if you accept to live with them, it can be like walking into a lions gap! They can write anything about you in a review after, and they don.t say clearly what rules they have. When I now just read about mess and unclearness about payment also- I will stay deactivate it. It is NOT worth it-

Total scam What should I think from a website (Couchsurfing) with an email verification that never can work? And then I should make the verification with my credit card without knowing, how much money Couchsurfing will charge from my credit card... This is so insane because Couchsurfing can charge every amount of money!!! And Couchsurfing never tells you how much money cost their membership... Couchsurfing has your credit card or Paypal and then they can charge whatever they want!!!

Dont waste your time or effort. Everybody declines your requests to stay no matter how polite or well written. Out of the 30 or so i sent in my trip not one came through. Dont know if guys on here are using it hoping girls will stay at there house? I also signed up to be a verified member hoping this would improve my chances but didnt change anything.

About 1 hour ago i created a new page at couchsurfing and verified my account with payment 325 Turkish lira. A few minutes ago my page got banned for no reason. This is fraud!! I want them to either lift my ban or refund my payment for verifying my account.

I wanted to check it out because Jeff Yeager mentions using couchsurfing in his writings. When asked for my credit card for verification the site charged me $60 without any obvious warning. It might be a great site and I might be happy to pay $60 to join! But I needed to be clearly told that I was about to get charged something. Came to Trustpilot and found others had the same experience, so it was not my imagination. I have asked for a refund through the site and I will block any charge if it does not come through in 10 days. To bad, because if this site works then I would be happy to pay $60, but I needed to know more first.

The idea and the website itself is good. Sure, some people have bad experiences but it is not necessarily the website's fault. The issue however is that since the past few months or so, the support is non-existent. The website is full of bugs, and it is already very hard to submit a support request. When one does submit a request, the request is right away marked as 'solved'! Even after responding to the original email, the response is added but still the ticket is inactive. I've tried it several times and they never bother to respond.

Scam !! I entered my credit card details for verification. They took A$84 from my account without my authorization. They never mentioned about any money that'll be taken from the account. Horrible way of doing business.
