Leider hat sich seit der Wandlung zum kostenpflichtigen Portal (mit dem Erpressen der zukünftigen Login-Sperre, wenn man nicht zahlt...) seit 2020 sehr an Attraktivität verloren. So ist in der Mitgliedersuche nichts besser geworden (dort gibts immer noch keinen Filter, um z.B. Personen wiederzufinden, mit denen mal ein Hangout zustande kam), obwohl CS 2020 mit dem Einziehen von Gebühren viel Geld eingenommen hat. Wo das hingeflossen ist weiß keiner, sicher nicht in die Mitgliederbindung oder die Verbesserung der Website. Wenn man nach Hilfe zu bestimmten Themen sucht findet man unendlich viele Ergebnisse, ohne Filter auch hier. Wenn sich im Lauf von 2021 nichts an den unseriösen Praktiken ändert, werde ich CS den Rücken kehren, OHNE auch noch fürs Löschen zu zahlen...

My experience on 2021-03-21. Decided to donate them 14,29 Euros. Then I went to "verified my profile", what happened? I was charged 56,0 Euros which I never agreed to pay them! When I contacted them few times, they just wrote back "Refunds are not available for any Couchsurfing contributions or Verification purchases after May 14th, 2020". Imagine! What rules make this company... I blocked my bank card after this issue. Who can prove that data of users' cards is secured?

Do not join couchsurfing! I breaks my heart since couchsurfing was my life for years but became spammy and fraudulent. Read other people's comments to find out what's happened!

Only after creating the account they came up for asking a contribution of 3 dollars pro month. After that I did some brouwsing and find out that they must have made millions of dollars in the past. It feld as a scam for me and i dealeted tge account.

Couch surfing scammed me through verification. I thought they were just going to confirm my identity and I was not informed I was getting charged $60 until it was too late. Now they are refusing to refund me. They ruthlessly robbed me in the middle of a pandemic! They are criminals!

BE AWARE ! ! ! . I was shocked & horrified when I was asked to do a simple verification of my I. D. with my credit card. I thought this was only a credit card verification process. But I was immediately charged £51. This process happened so quickly, without the usual or any 'double checks' you get when making payments on line. I would NEVER have guessed I was about to be charged £51 to verify my I.D.. I would NEVER pay to verify my ID. CS App then asks for 3 further normal usual verification documents, which makes the Credit card verification totally unnecessary. I have NEVER seen this 'trick' before. I have NEVER been charged to verify my I. D. Before. I INTEND TO GET MY MONEY BACK VIA CREDIT CARD COMPANY OR COURT !

I received notifications for people and I cannot respond without paying a fee. What is happening to that free accommodation site? It looks fishy and I am not paying nothing but also cannot respond. Nothing is the same and why?
