Over a decade ago I paid about $25 for a verified Couchsurfing.org "lifetime membership" and NOW I'm supposed to pay more to even access my account. No thanks! I NEVER actually couchsurfed (slept on a stranger's couch) via the website BUT I used it to meet a lot of people. This used to be a real social network (as opposed to the anti-social networks of the current year), but it appears to have devolved in just another credit card scam front. But capitalism is doing its thing; Google "couchsurfing alternatives" and you may find some options out there...

Scammers! Charged me 56 eur without my consent and refused to refund. Stay away from them! Instead of making a good product they rip off people.

Couchsurfing.com scams people. I only signed up for a one time contribution of NoK 22.00 (a little over two US$) but couchsurfing.com has taken NoK 690.00 (about US$ 65.00!) I demanded a refund and said I was willing to donate once NoK 22,00 but not 'support' them monthly much less let them steal from me for a 'verification.' Couchsurfing.com replied a trite 'no refunds' policy which is their way to support their scam. I will contact the FBI because BBB and Consumer Protection do not deal with scammers. Much less international/global scammers. Please, readers, contact the FBI with your own experience of being scammed by couchsurfing.com! Let's teach those scammers a lesson!!

Wow, this place rips you off! And doesn’t even care! I signed up for only 1 month to just see what it’s about and a screen popped up to get verified. It asked me for my credit card which I had just thought I paid the 2.99 for the one month to be verified and it magically charged me $60! And no refunds! I had NO idea it was going to charge me for lifeline member something, I never agreed to. It just did it automatically without my authorization. When reaching out to the company they said we have a no refund policy. Well don’t be so sneaky trying to get my info! I’ll never use them at all! And never recommend them. I was only on for 10 min. Forget it. It’s not worth it. Either way their customer service is terrible. They could have made more $ if they were honest and realized their websites mistake. No, they have to steal money from someone taking care of a stage 4 cancer patient instead. They should be more understanding, then they would get better reviews. Most places wanting to verify you by putting in a credit card don’t charge the card. They just use it for verification! Your site didn’t ask if I wanted to donate money to the organization. It just asked me to enter a few things to get verified. Beware everyone!! They won’t even look at the situation and help you. They look the other way and don’t care about anyone else!!!
