I paid express shipping for my children's costumes to arrive 10/21 and on that day the order status said "processing". Called them up and waited on hold for nearly 25 minutes before someone answered. The man guaranteed that my package would be delivered today 10/23 and that my express fee would be refunded. I noticed that I still had not seen shipment info so I contacted them again and this woman tell me that my order had not shipped and she doesn't know when it will! On top of that they never processed my express shipping refund! This has to be some kind of scam. There's no way a costume company would fall so behind during the time of year when they are the most busiest!!! So angry!

DO NOT ORDER FROM COSTUMEEXPRESS.com!!!! I placed an order and paid a surcharge for "guaranteed delivery by 10/23" (the date of an event my daughter is attending). Never got a shipping confirmation email as promised so went to check status online. It still said "processing order" even though it was supposed to arrive TODAY. I contacted service via online chat. First she said it was being packed and would soon ship. What about the guaranteed delivery for today? She checks again and said they are having inventory issues and couldn't even guarantee delivery by Halloween! And yet, their site is STILL taking orders with guaranteed delivery promises. Such poor business practice!!!"

Never received email with shipping tracking info so I called to check status of order.... Asian lady on recording says delayed shipment because of overwhelming response to specials. It says press 9 if you want to cancel and leave your info. I hit 9 a hundred times and the recording keeps repeating. It never lets me record. I've emailed several times no response. I tried to iChat with no success. Come to find out they got me twice cuz then I ordered costume through what I thought was other company not related called buycostumes.com. Both charged on credit card are same name and same issue with them. No email with shipping or tracking info and I paid upgraded shipping. Now my credit card company says by law they have to give the merchant 30 days before they can dispute. Good luck everyone! Don't order from them. Thieves and liars.

Their site promises guaranteed delivery but they never ship the item out. Customer service is horrible and you are on hold for over 30 min before you speak to someone. I intend to report this company to consumer affairs for false advertising. Now I am having trouble getting a refund.

I wish I read the reviews on this company before I spent $250 and waited and waited and waited for my package to come at the "GUARANTEED" date. I ordered my costumes for my entire family and thought it would come in time for a Halloween event because it was supposedly "GUARANTEED" 4 days ago and when I called, the customer service rep said it hasn't even been shipped yet!!! What?! Why?!! He said because they are backed up. I ordered my costumes 2 weeks ago!!! Then I asked to cancel my order and he said he'll email a request to his boss. ????? What?!? They are total scam artists!! I said oh trust me, you're gonna cancel my order because you're not getting my $!!! Luckily for me, I paid with my American Express and they immediately put a hold on this transaction and will not pay these lying scam artists! Save your time, money, and frustration!!! I wish I did!!

I have just had what must be my absolute worst online buying experience ever with costumexpress.com. I ordered the popular Star Wars costumes for my two boys. Immediately, I received an email stating that the items were in stock and that shipping would be guaranteed on Oct. 19. Last night, (Oct. 19), my order had not been shipped. I contacted costumer service today (Oct 20) and the lady told me the same thing other have reported here: "the order is being packed right now", "we'll let you know when it had left the warehouse"... They immediately offered to refund me the shipping costs, but would not give me a definite answer as to delivery date. Their ambiguity made me think twice. They either do not to understand the difference between the shipping date and the delivery date, or they are deliberately trying to mislead the consumer. After asking 3 times, they finally agreed to cancel my order (they did tell me that it could not be done, even when the items were still sitting in the warehouse, by her own admission). I am not holding my breath.

I ordered a costume over a month ago on pre-order. I changed my mind and called to cancel weeks before it was expected to ship. They said they would cancel it (although the customer service rep tried to talk me out of it three times!) and I'd get a confirmation email that they cancelled the order. They NEVER cancelled my order or sent a cancellation confirmation, charged my card, and sent it anyway. SHIFTY BUSINESS PRACTICES! As a grad student working part time at a nonprofit, I'm sure you needed my money more than I did.

DISCLAIMER: If I could give 0 stars I would however since I have to pick something it's a 1. I ordered a costume on 9/13 for my son. It came within a week's time which was not a problem since I ordered it well in advance of Halloween. When it came my son decided that he did not like it so I called customer service to get a return authorization number. I was put on hold for over an hour, dealing with a person for whom English was clearly not their first language. I was told that they would not provide a free return shipping label and wanted to charge me a ridiculous amount to send the items back. Clearly their hope is that you figure it's cheaper to just keep the items and not go through the trouble to return anything. I chose to ship it back myself via UPS and eventually was given the return authorization by a supervisor. I was told as soon as they received the items back my credit card would be refunded. I tracked the package on UPS and saw that it was delivered to their warehouse and signed for so at that point I threw out my tracking information. 4 weeks later I have yet to receive my credit. I called Costume Express last night and spent another hour on hold to be told by completely inept employees that they do not see that the package was sent back. I was told numerous times by their customer service people (although I say customer service lightly as there is none) that they could not issue me a credit without the items returned and perhaps I could provide them the tracking number. I expressed my dissatisfaction and disbelief as I feel that my responsibility ends when a package is signed for by their warehouse. Needless to say another hour wasted and still no credit. Just extreme aggravation. I have now contacted my credit card company to dispute the charges and hope that I will finally have some resolution. Bottom line, i will NEVER purchase from Costume Express ever again and will be certain to spread the word to everyone I know.
