The problem is not with the hotels. The problem is with the rewards program. We've had Choice hotels reward program for over 5 years. We do a lot of travelling on our motorcycle and stay with choice mostly because of the rewards program. We haven't traveled in the last couple of years because we were working on our house. We received a letter last weekend saying we had to use our credit card or we would lose our points within 30 days. We went to dinner, using the card, and figured we were good. We went to use our points for a trip to Havasu. Our points were gone. Even before the 30 days. Calling their customer service is a waste of time. Their call center is India and they have no power to fix anything. The first lady we spoke with said she would give us 35,000 points back. We had over 60,000. We asked and she connected us to her supervisor...JC...he told us he would only give us 30,800. He didn't even give us the amount the originaI lady said. You can't even leave a review on their website. I understand points can expire but when you are sent a letter telling you you have 30 days to use it or lose it. I am completely disgusted with this company.

Treated me like trash
Treated me like trash and if it wasn't for the Days Inn Hotel right next room I would have really been in trouble. I booked a room this weekend online at the Econo Lodge at 1630 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12205. I booked it online. I printed out the reservation just in case there was a problem. Well, I came in just ahead of the ice storm on 4/14/18 about 4:00pm. When I got to the hotel I informed the clerk that I made a reservation and told him my name. He told me that he did not see my reservation and he would not rent me a room. I showed him the printed out copy of my reservation I got online and he said he did not care he still would not rent me a room. He informed me that I have to call the people I made the reservation with. Well, I could not do that because I made the reservation online and I did not have my computer with me. I told him I have the money can I still get a room for two days there was almost no people in the hotel and he still refused to rent me a room. I told him, " I drove all the way from Buffalo and I have no place to stay what should I do"? He told me, " I Sir I really don't care what you do," I asked for his name and he said it was Zean A Middle Eastern person. I was so hurt and angry I just couldn't believe it. He was as rude as he could be and simply refused to rent me a room or honor my reservation even though I had proof that online my reservation was made online. I went over to the Days Inn Hotel which was right next door and THANK GOD for them because had no problem renting me a room. Econo Lodge SUCKS with the worst staff and customer service I have ever witnessed in my life. If I wasn't a God fearing person I would have PUNCHED him right in his face !!!! But I'm trying to be a better person today. I went to the Quality Inn hotel right next door 2 wks prior and I made a reservation online. The reservation did not show up online just like with the Econo Lodge but do you know the woman ( God Bless Her) at the Quality Inn because she would not let me leave that Hotel until she found me a room. I was so happy with their service and she was an Angel. Please NEVER go to the Econo Lodge its the worst and the people there are prejudice and treat African American people poorly.

Har bott på många hotell genom åren men …
Har bott på många hotell genom åren men alltid återkommit till denna trygga kedja. Man får vad man betalar för. Inga överraskningar.

Worst company ever
If I could give this company 0 stars I would. Worst customer service ever. I created an account because I'm currently doing some work on my home and my contractor is staying at a hotel nearby under Choice Hotels. I figured I'd put his name on the account to make it easier for him when he checks into the hotel, which I later realized was a mistake. I have been making all the bookings for him. He never once has called Choice Hotels. I got an email from the company saying we have enough points to redeem a free night. I made a reservation already but I figured I could apply those points to the reservation. Since his name is on the account, they wanted to speak to him and get his permission. Although I tried to explain to them that I have been making all the bookings and just put his name on there because I figured it would be easier for him. All information is mine however - address, phone, even my credit card with my name on it has been the same each time. You're telling me they couldn't even look at the transactions and see that is has all been under my name?! I was on the phone with them for an hour and got a hold of a supervisor who said it would be easy to change his name to mine, I just needed to contact Member Service. But when I called member services they said that was incorrect and they cannot change the name. Two supervisors telling me conflicting information! I will never be doing business with this company again.

Do not stay there
Stayed at the quality inn In Wilkes barre PA and were robbed (room broken into) despite an electronic key. Police investigated + arrested a known user who was given a key to our room and then relocated to another room. Room search by officer revealed nothing as his girl friend left the room and took everything with her. So far the GM at the hotel declines responsibility. The police told me this is a liability issue for the hotel. We had major problems with our key. As have others who stayed at that location. Obviously a faulty computer that has not been fixed. The housekeeping manager who was on duty was very sympathetic but said she cannot do anything, it's up to the GM. Am now waiting to hear from the CEO Stephen Joyce whom I contacted about the lack of responses so far.

Nearly everything was wrong!!!
When we arrived at the hotel, I stood in the lobby for approximately 3 minutes listening to the desk clerk and another person talking before I finally tapped on the counter to get her attention. I then proceeded to check in and told her I wanted to pay cash but she insisted I give her a credit card to put on hold. We went upstairs to the room and it was only cool, in other words the air conditioner was not functioning properly. We also found out at check out that they were just renting the room as a King Suite because the Jacuzzi doesn't work. Then after all that I still couldn't pay cash for my stay because they CHARGED MY CARD ANYWAY!!! With employees and management like this, its no wonder they went out of business the first time as Comfort INN.

Do not use choice hotels
Do not use choice hotels if you want a benefits program. They opened an account under my spouse's name with out our concent and now we can't use those points because the are under a different name. They claimed no fault in opening a seperate account with out our concent. Horrible phone customer service.

I booked my Choice hotel through calling them and using their rewards program.
I booked my Choice hotel through their rewards center. I had transferred points over to Choice from my Amtrak points. At the time I booked, both the website and the Choice representative on the phone told me that it was 6,000 points per night. The Amtrak points had not transferred over yet, so I paid with my credit card and booked two rooms for three nights at a Choice hotel. I wrote down all the details during the booking as the agent read them out to me. In my notes, I have down that the hotel was going to cost 6,000 per night and that I could pay using my points as soon as they arrived in my account. After booking, I decided to double-check that I was okay by calling the hotel itself. They also reassured me I could use my points for the booking and that the points were 6,000 per night. When my points finally did arrive in my account, a few weeks later, the website now listed the hotel as 30,000 per night. When I called Choice Rewards, they also insisted the hotel was 30,000 per night and that there was no way the hotel could have ever gone down to 6,000 points per night. They didn't believe me, and insisted they had to do an investigation where I'd have to wait 7-10 days and they'd listen to the tapes of my conversation with them. If they found that they were at fault, the supervisor Anthony would make the situation right. I waited a few days before contacting Anthony again. I was told the investigation had finalized and that they did find their agent to be in the wrong for telling me the hotel was 6,000 points. In order to remedy the situation, they offered me 30,000 points, which was the cost of one night stay. I told them that my entire hotel stay should have been covered and that was the only way to remedy the situation. They said it was in their policy to only offer one night stay at the hotel I wanted. So it's clearly their policy to royally screw the customer when needed. This was the one vacation I had booked for the summer and we had family coming that was going to go with us, so it's not as though we can simply change the dates we were going. For a company that specializes in vacations, they sure know how to destroy someone's plans. Do NOT use Choice, whatever you do! Reading the other reviews in this thread, I don't know how a company like Choice can continue to scam their customers. I don't know how I could live with myself being as unscrupulous as they are.
