Placed an order ($200) with them on a Sunday. By Monday I received an email saying that the order had shipped. The order came in three different boxes (!), and unfortunately, the one item that I needed (food) took 10 days to arrive in its separate little box. When I contacted their customer service via email, I received a response that said the food had to ship from a different warehouse and was therefore delayed. Of course, they didn't notify me of this until I asked what happened to my order. Very poor communication on their part, and not at all helpful. Since they offer NO options for different shipping (express, overnight, etc.) you are stuck with their regular shipping (FedEx), which might be 2-3 days...or you might have to wait a lot longer. Honestly, I could have had the local pet store order the food for me and it would have taken just as long. I don't see the advantage to using Chewy, especially if you are counting on their advertised delivery times.

Ordered a prescription for my cat on October 12, by October 19th they had finally shipped the order and still won't receive it until the 22nd. It's absolutely ridiculous it'd take almost two weeks to get medicine. I had to contact Chewy multiple times and my vets office just to get the order through. It was "held up" multiple times. Not sure what that means but she won't be able to take her medication as prescribed because of their inefficiency, when I was not once contacted about any issues with the order. Extremely disappointed.

I have been ordering the pet fountain replacement filters from Chewy for the pet fountain I had ordered from them a while back. I had requested that the filter NOT come in a large box since it is so small and light. For a while, they sent me my cartridge in a large envelope which worked well. After a few months, the large boxes reappeared. Today, I went to again request an envelope and discovered that I have been paying MORE FOR SHIPPING AND TAX than the actual product. On top of that, they have been charging me, a loyal customer, MORE than if I'd just ordered it from their webpage. ($6.64 after my 'discount" vs. $4.75 online.) In other words, they were charging me 40% more for the same item, and this does not include shipping and tax. I just cancelled my autoship, but want to warn others to beware of this company's lax ethics. UPDATE: They have cancelled my autoship and credited my final payment back to my account AND sent an email. I appreciate that. And I have been totally happy with the product quality. Just BE CAREFUL ABOUT AUTOSHIP.

At first Chewy had my dog food for a significant price difference, but now it is just as much as the store. I see no reason to order online

I would rate Chewy a 2.5, but that option isn't availible. They can have competitive prices on dry and freeze dried food and snacks and I will likely continue to use them for those purposes, on occasion. However, I would never recommend anyone purchase toys from them. They claim to stand behind thier products, but if a toy fails to live up to the claims of tough...even when made to stand up to a sixty pound pooch and your mutt is a whopping ten pounder, they will expect you to pay to return it to them to verify it failed basic play. Don't waste your money.

I love chewy and have been a long time customer. However they use Fedex which is terrible that delay orders on multiple occasions saying they were here when they were not.

Please understand that this was an isolated incident and hopefully the customer service rep gets the training he needs to properly help customers in the future. I purchased 2 items and 1 was being prepared to be shipped; when I asked where the second half of my order was...the customer service agent said, "I don't know what to tell you". My concern was that I hadn't received an update or email about part 2 of my order. A supervisor got on the line at my request and offered me 15% off on my next purchase but immediately told me that he could not add it to my account I just had to call back and tell them his name and that he offered me 15% off. If it were that easy don't you think everyone would do that Mr. Supervisor? Everyone in this world is not honest so please lets find a better way to give customers discounts on future purchases (this was not a good look), please do better or you will lose this loyal customer; been one since 2004.

very confusing how to get prescriptions to them. My vet tried twice, chewy said they never got it and canceled my order. I mailed it in and the next day said they recieved it (which is not possible) and that I could order it. I ordered it and something else by mistake so I canceled my order. Went to try and order again and said it needed a new prescription. I've spent a great deal of time playing mediator between chewy and my vet and on emails with various chewy representatives who all say something to the effect of it'll get figured out once they receive the prescription I mailed in (which is fine but then don't tell me that you can't take prescriptions via email or fax when it says so on the order form and doesn't say differently on the website. And don't send me an email saying I can order when I can't). I requested a representative call me and they only respond with something similar to "give your fur babies extra scratches"; really? Just clearly communicate and fill the prescription! After this prescription is filed (because I need asap and the vet doesn't have in stock), I will be highly considering using another service. I was drawn to chewy for their prices and supposedly easy to use. Only reason didn't give 1 star is they did respond quickly.
