Undisclosed Fiberglass in Dog Bed – Disappointed and Concerned
I’ve been a longtime customer of Chewy and have generally had great experiences, but this recent one has left me extremely disappointed and concerned for both my safety and my pet's. I purchased the Frisco Quilted Orthopedic Pillow Lounger Dog Bed, which is advertised as having a removable, washable cover. The product description and even an answered customer question explicitly state that there is no fiberglass. However, when I removed the cover to wash it—as the tag instructs—I immediately noticed sparkling fiberglass fibers becoming airborne. My skin became irritated, and my apartment was contaminated with fiberglass particles. This was not disclosed anywhere in the product listing, packaging, or care instructions. I even included a video showing the fiberglass when I contacted Chewy. While customer service did refund the cost of the bed and apologized, the response felt inadequate given the health risk involved. I was told to “properly discard” the bed, but no further concern or action was taken beyond that. I’m sharing this because fiberglass exposure is serious—for humans and animals—and this product could harm someone else unaware of the risk. I hope Chewy reconsiders carrying items with undisclosed hazardous materials, or at the very least, updates product listings with full transparency. I appreciate the refund, but this experience shook my trust in Chewy’s product safety standards.
