Scammy Business Practices
My partner and I tried to use Cerebral. They informed us they couldn't help us since she's not a US citizen and advised us to look for an in-person doctor -- no problem. But then they charged us $50 for the five minute we-can't-help-you conversation. And then they charged us $135/month for no reason and no services at all until we got it fully cancelled -- which was difficult to do, because since they told us they couldn't help us my partner DIDN'T EVEN HAVE AN ACTIVE ACCOUNT. They only refunded us $40 of more than $300 in fraudulent charges. Don't engage. Don't even give them your phone number. Edit: I reached out like they asked me to and got no response. 😐 Absolutely don't give these people your CC info. There's a subreddit at r/cerebralfraud with more user experiences documented. Edit 2: Finally got a full refund today, almost exactly two months after we first asked for it. I'm leaving the review at one star for the following reasons: • This should have been resolved on the very first phone call. Our situation is extremely straightforward and should have had a very straightforward solution. Any business of repute would have immediately offered us a full refund. • The cancellation process, in a service marketed primarily to people who struggle with executive dysfunction, had SO MANY STEPS. There's absolutely no reason to make it so difficult for customers to extricate themselves from this service, unless it's to trip them up and get more money out of them. • We should not have had to resort to leaving public reviews about our experience and threatening to go to the Better Business Bureau to get our money returned to us. We're lucky because we were aware that those options were open to us and because we had the time and ability to pursue them. Not every victim of this scam is in the same position. • Cerebral's official position, as you can see in the response to this comment, seems to be that we were "confused" about their billing practices. This is gaslighting. We are not confused. We were charged for a service not rendered and then stonewalled for two months when we asked for it to be made right. • Again, Cerebral held onto nearly $300 of my money for two months. I was fortunately in a position where this did not impact my access to food, shelter, or transportation, but to somebody else in this very screwed up economy, that amount could easily have been the difference between scraping by and homelessness. Cerebral, you've lost my trust and the trust of hundreds of customers. If you want to begin to fix your reputation, this list is a good place to start. To anybody else who has been scammed by this business and is still struggling to get recompense: be loud. Leave reviews everywhere you can think of. Blow up their social media pages. Report them to the BBB and the Attorney General if you have to.
