When I started with Cerebral in August of 2021 I bounced from care counselor to care counselor for months. After an especially bad experience with one I landed with my current one, who is so wonderful and lovely and has helped my mental health more in the past year than anyone in my life has. I just found out today that she (along with 20% of their care counselors) was let go and that session would be our last. I’m devastated that a company whose whole point is to better the mental health of others would drop this on people. It’s irresponsible and it could be dangerous. If you’d asked me months ago I would’ve recommended it, but now? I would not.

The ease & convenience is what drew me to giving Cerebral a try, but now I understand you get what you pay for & this supposedly “affordable” alternative to in-person care became a nightmare for my mental health. First, the care coordinator assigned to me was nearly non-existent & didn’t do much in terms of assistance or following up. Then, the first doctor I was assigned to quit. And a random was assigned. The new one assigned did not match well with me & I requested a switch- to which I was told to seek from the list on the app. Come to find out- there was literally 0 available to book an appointment with. For weeks. Absolutely none available through the entire end of the year when searching in August! To make matters worse, I was prescribed certain medications but what I received was wrong. And then other medications I’d been prescribed were not delivered while I was receiving double orders of another. Some of these medications gave terrible side effects but it took days for my care coordinator to acknowledge my messages & the prescriber constantly got the scripts wrong- I ended up being on the phone with support over 5 times for being sent the wrong scripts & charged for them- and never ended up receiving the scripts that I was told were supposedly corrected. Appointments were someone on the other screen asking me very generic questions & they spent more time typing than actually engaging with me. We never accomplished anything and it ended up being the standard play-by-play to document they were doing their “job” but it had 0 benefit to me for help or psychological care. Overall my experience was extremely disorganized and borderline fraudulent for the “care” I received. From the care team assigned to struggling with finding a doctor, constant pharmaceutical problems, being charged for what wasn’t received, lack of overall professionalism & care- this gave me more & worse anxiety than I signed on with! I can’t express enough how displeased I am with Cerebral & would absolutely NOT refer or recommend to anyone else needing serious help. The convenience is not at all worth the subpar service & borderline dangerous when dealing with mental health. I’m shocked this entity is even allowed to be open & supposedly “licensed” after my experience. Probably the worst care & incompetence I’ve ever dealt with.

Dear Cerebral, Less than a year ago, When I found you, I thought you were an answer to my prayers. As a person with severe anxiety you provided counseling and medication management at the click of a finger. Easy access and flexible schedules which are all benefits to someone with crippling anxiety. I found a compassionate counselor who is a ray of light in my life. She has helped me through monumental accomplishments in my mental health journey. I cried upon the news I would be losing her. A prescriber who is so supportive and understanding. Flexible with all aspects of life. Now, cerebral, you’ve ripped all of this out from under me. All progress I’ve made seems to be crumbling before me. Ripped out from under me. You provide an important, integral aspect to peoples lives. This service is important and needed. Care counseling and medication management is essential to our lives. You are removing that access to mental healthcare in an affordable way. I cannot afford $325 a month, $260 a month for an alternate plan. I was never given an updated pricing scheduling as requested from support. There are humans involved here. Ones with complex mental health and emotional needs. You were an answer to so many prayers. Mental health should not be this difficult. We should not have to battle this hard, in under a year, to have needs met. We came to you in confidence.

Never got as far as using the service, became increasingly uncomfortable with the sign up process. The biggest red flag for me was having to process payment before realizing what you were paying for. The low price I for the medication service, therapy services are five time as expensive and not covered by insurance.

I enjoy the idea of Cerebral but from the get go my prescriber called me a half hour late for my very first appointment. First she said it was because of the mix up in laws - where she is in Ohio you must do a video interview however in SC I had the choice to do it over the phone and somehow she missed that? Then as we were getting off the phone I said yeah sorry about that mix up from earlier I’m not sure what happened … (even though it wasn’t my fault begin with) and she said oh yeah I had another patient that went over who really needed my help???? Like huh? Then I requested a medication refill a week before I was out this was on a Tuesday and still had not heard back by Saturday even though they say they respond in 24 hours. I called their customer service line who said they could put in a request but it would take another 24 hours for my prescriber to approve it and if she didn’t approve it they would have to forward the request to a care team. The customer service honestly sucks…they don’t respond and in my opinion are super unprofessional considering what this platform is for. Lastly I had gotten a new bank card and did not update the details in the app so my card had declined for month 2 of payment which I rectified within 48 hours. They had no problem sending me a message after message after message to update my payment info but can’t seem to respond to my requests. Joke of an app DO NOT RECOMMEND. Will be moving onto something else after this month.

i mean my first session was fine but i have asked for one thing since before joining, during my session (when i was told to reach out to my care team). i haven’t really gotten a clear answer from anyone besides the therapist i met with on monday. mt main concern is not meds but getting a clear answer that i can submit for extra time on a test. still haven’t gotten the answer i need and this is critical as well as time sensitive.

At first I was very satisfied with cerebral, they helped me to get the proper meds to help me with my depression and then it stopped working so we changed my medicine. Cerebral failed to tell me that there is a $50 up charge for my new medicine. I told my provider and she was told I shouldn’t be paying that much because their services aren’t even that expensive yet I’m still paying the amount and $30 on top of that for the subscription. Cerebral has also sent me the wrong medicine twice now which has caused my body to start withdrawing from not taking my medicine not a month now. I tried texting my provider and it took them a week to get back to me and didn’t even fix the problem just asked me which medicine I had received but still haven’t been sent the right one. All this company cares about is money, not their clients. Please if you’re thinking about using cerebral, don’t, go look elsewhere.

I had 3 appointments with cerebral. My prescriber was friendly, caring, and found a medication that worked well for me but after my third appointment, she disappeared and never sent my prescription over for a refill. It stressed me out because I was worried about withdrawals after starting that medication. My cerebral team claim they care about you, and that they will answer your messages through a “care chat”, but I never received a reply back until 4 days later and the problem was never solved. Dragging it out to 2 weeks of missed doses. So I stopped using cerebral. My experience proved them to not be as reliable. This was also my first time receiving counseling care and it was okay. They will chat with you for about 45min and ask how your day is going and then give pointers on how to improve it. There were small assessments to complete in the end but that was about it that I had.
