A good short term band aid for mental health
For not having insurance and mental healthcare being expensive in general, this is a pretty decent short term solution. My therapist is 10/10 but I wish therapy was more frequent. There's just not enough time to address issues that I really need to work through in the same way as other therapy options. It's fine for now as a band aid for my mental health decline or perhaps for someone just dealing with general depression or anxiety but I wouldn't consider it a long term solution for myself, as a person struggling with PTSD and a long sordid history of sexual trauma and physical abuse etc. However, it has helped me at least somewhat cope with depression and anxiety in my immediate life and being able to get Lexapro easily while uninsured may have very well saved my life. On the other hand, there's another medication that I need to be on to pair with Lexapro that was recommended by my old psychiatrist in another state. We've spoken about it recently and the alternatives to this medication that have been thrown my way have been more damaging than helpful but the medication I need is controlled and they're unable to legally prescribe it. That's not their fault but it does cement that idea that this isn't a good long term solution and it's time now that I'm doing better financially to look for other options that can provide me with long term solutions and the medication I actually need. Overall though, this is great for someone just wanting to manage surface level depression and anxiety or someone needing a short term band aid to get through a rough period until they're able to afford a more in-depth care and a psychiatrist who can legally provide controlled medications if that's something they need like I do. For real though, shoutouts to my therapist. She's wonderful. Everybody else on my team is okay but the change up of staff and repeated issues with communication (and lack of apologies for those mistakes) along with the inability to get the right meds has pushed me to look elsewhere for help. That's very anxiety inducing rather than helpful and as it turns out, here at the end of my road with them, I've added Cerebral to the list of things that upsets me and makes me anxious rather than it being a source of relief.
