STAY AWAY FROM CEREBRAL!
I was really optimistic when signing up for Cerebral and thought that it would be a great opportunity for me to improve my mental health. Boy, was I wrong. You are required to give payment information before even going through all of the rest of the set up process. I thought I was signing up for counseling but after they took my money found out it was only psychiatric medical care. This is the “run-around” they give you when you use insurance to sign up. They charge you for a whole month up front but I was not able to choose my provider and the assigned provider was not available to see me for several weeks. Mental Health is a VERY PERSONAL experience and clients need to be able to choose the provider that they view is the best for them. The website is extremely confusing to navigate. I reached out to my “care counselor”/coordinator who is not a counselor but essentially a billing support agent who does not care at all. This title is confusing. That person was unhelpful and told me to email cerebral support who was also unhelpful and completely blew off my concerns. First impressions are critical. Your clients have to know that you care. Since I quickly realized that Cerebral as a platform did not care about me, I decided to cancel two days after subscribing. I then got the run around from billing who tried to claim since because they are a subscription model they could only refund me 50% even though I didn’t use any of their services. I was adamant on getting a full refund since the only reason I cancelled was a lack of support and availability from Cerebral. Cerebral did not provide or attempt to provide the services that I agreed to. They finally agreed to a full refund but in the whole process did not attempt to resolve my concerns and assist me, which would have been the preferred outcome. They only wanted my money. There is a huge stigma on Mental Health and companies like Cerebral have a responsibility to genuinely assist clients that reach out to them for help. Treat them with the upmost kindness, respect, and understanding and address their concerns. Cerebral is more concerned with business and taking your money than they are with helping you. They are setting back the mental health stigma and because so many people have had negative experiences, this is deterring people that really need assistance from reaching out. This company is a scam and I highly recommend that you stay away from it.
