Photo shoot was OK on Sept.18.
It seems that C&B highjacks the
photos so they can only be used on their site.
OK so I wanted to list my Duesenberg but could not get through their sign in process. Nobody replies even the photographer ? Can not post my listing ?
3 days trying to post my listing with no success.

Hi Carl,
We're sorry to hear that you're dissatisfied with your experience on Cars & Bids. After searching our records, we believe we've found your submission - though your name and indication of your car's make are all we have to identify that. If we've found the correct submission, the timeline was as follows:
- You submitted your Duesenberg golf cart as a no reserve auction
- We accepted the car and provided you with information on our photo requirements and options to order professional photography
- You ordered professional photography through our referral link
- You then requested a reserve on your auction
- We let you know that we could not accommodate your reserve request, but would be happy to continue with your auction at No Reserve, as you initially submitted it to us.
We cannot block your access to your professional photos; they are accessible to you through the photography company's website.
If you have any questions, or continued difficulty signing into CarsAndBids.com, please contact us at [email protected].

Lackluster sale
Overall, I was blah about the experience from the seller side. I had submitted to both Cars and Bids and Bring a Trailer and was accepted at both sites. Throughout the process I thought I had made the right decision, but hindsight makes me doubt it now. The site talking up the inspection was a mistake. I paid the money to Lemon Squad and if anything it was a distraction during the auction because of a phantom code that no one could figure out. A knock off similar car was placed on the site right before mine. We were very far apart on the reserve, so we discussed going no reserve to increase traffic, which backfired in the end. The results were lackluster from MY side of things. I am sure the buyer is ecstatic! Communication is ok, but if you are east coast time zone there is definitely a delay at times from the team. I tried to do professional photos through the site, but they do not come to my area, which I didn't know until I had agreed to the process. It is recent and stings a bit. I think the car underperformed and maybe that was my fault, but certainly don't feel like cars and bids did me any favors with our discussions. I should have stuck to my guns. Trust is earned not given and that is the lesson I learned today.
With regards to your reply, a salvaged title solbra from a "knockoff" brand (as you termed it to me) with almost 4 times as many miles outperformed my solstice by almost 25% within a week, so the market was the same. I bid on the BAT cars you are referring to and they are the basic Mallett conversions and are not comparable cars. But to each's own. AS I said, I learned an important lesson of trust is earned and not given.

Hi Brian,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review. We're saddened to hear that you're unsatisfied with your experience selling on Cars & Bids, and will use your feedback to improve our processes.
We believe your Mallett Solstice result was fairly strong considering the current car market. Reviewing the results from classic.com, your Solstice is the highest result we've seen for a naturally-aspirated Mallett conversion. A twin-turbo Mallett conversion sold on BaT in April 2021 (a MUCH stronger car market) with fewer miles for a considerably higher price. Another SOLBRA supercharged Solstice sold this week on BaT for less than $10,000 more than your NA Mallett Solstice. Considering these data points (and the essentially identical views between the SOLBRA Solstice and yours), we feel that your Mallett Solstice performed quite well, if not appropriately for the current market.
Again, we'll work to improve our processes, including our response times and photography options, as a result of your feedback. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at [email protected].

Heavy Handed Censorship
As a long time bidder AND buyer on car auction sites like C&B, I've found the input and comments from others both entertaining and valuable. However, C&B's ad hoc deletion of some comments makes my opinion of this site dim considerably. In addition to the bidding process, the banter of car enthusiasts is what makes sites like C&B and BAT exciting, fun, and educational. C&B, however, seems to have an unreasonably heavy handed censorship bent on their site. When I questioned their deletion of others benign comments, they then censored my comments, deleted them, and froze my account! Wow, as a mature and seasoned enthusiast, I find their behavior surprisingly immature in this area.

Hi Sean,
We're sorry to hear that you're unsatisfied with your experience on Cars & Bids. While we enjoy a friendly and relaxed comment section, we do require that all comments be respectful and focused on the auction at hand. Our community routinely flags comments that are unhelpful, and we sometimes remove comments that detract from the auction process.

They dictate Reserves or Hate Reserves
We tried to list a brand new clean titled 2023 fully loaded Ford Bronco Wildtrak which are hard to come by even at dealerships. This is the highest trim level outside of the more elusive Raptor. We listed the reserve for $1000 over MSRP and they want us to list it $11.000 plus below MSRP. We bought one car as a buyer in the past now we will not use this site for nothing. For a company that started only 3-4 years ago they are i guess happy with how many cars they list and sell. This Bronco is titled with only 125 of which 87 miles were done by Ford and the dealership. We put a few miles to drive home and trailered the rest to have a few modifications added. They try to string arm us to reserve it well below, i mean more than $11k below, MSRP. No dealerships sell at MSRP unless you placed the order
Reply to statement below. You are seriously delusional. I know for a fact Raptors are selling for $20k over MSRP. They are hard to come by. Ford isbt not up to true production levels in any trim levels except the lower base models you sell.
Response from Cars & BidsAug 16, 2023
Hi Rhonda,
We're sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with your experience on Cars & Bids. Our team works diligently to react to the ever-changing automotive landscape and has seen vast fluctuations in market prices on newly released models.
Unfortunately, we are seeing Broncos of all trim levels (including Everglades, Wildtraks, and Raptors) trade hands at below MSRP at this time. Our community expects market-appropriate reserves, and listings with reserves that are unlikely to sell are damaging to both the community and the seller.
Please let us know if you have any questions, our team is available at [email protected].

Not a trustworthy site. Inside bids and they ask for fake i.d.
I own a dealership, I had a good photagrapher doing my photos and submissions for me. He had already done some in the past and they worked out better than expected. Cars & Bids asked the photagrapher for an i.d., he sent a picture of it to Cars & Bids. They looked at it and then asked for it to be scanned. He scanned the i.d. He explained before sending in his i.d. that it doesnt match his email name as no ones does. Cars & Bids then asked him to obtain an i.d that matched his email name. My photagrapher explained that this was not possible and that the only i.d. he had was the valid state issued i.d. that he provided. Cars & Bids then asked if he could obtain a passport with the email name. He explained that would not be possible either as the only name that can be put on a state issued i.d. or passport is a persons legal birth name and that obtaining one with another name isn't legal. They continued to ask. I wondered how my i.d would work as my email name is just numbers and letters and nothing close to my i.d. I re-submitted one of the several vehicles myself thinking that my email name and i.d. name are nothing alike either. Cars & bids told me the vehicle was not fit for them even though it had just been accepted on their site days earlier. I asked several times for a manager and I got no reply. Now my business is being held up and they give no reason othe than wanting a person to obtain a fake i.d. There was also some inside bidding going on with another dealership that my photo guy did some shoots for. Cars & Bids contacted him, when he found out about the dealerships dishonesty he stopped working with that dealership and lost money he could have made in the future. He's an honest guy that did the right thing but he still has bills to pay like the rest of us. He informed Cars & Bids that he did not do the photos for the questionable auction and that he talked with the dealership and found more than one lie with the dealership and he told Cars & Bids about the things he found out, such as the questionable dealership lying about who made their videos when you can see the makers face in the reflection of the car. Then Cars & Bids didn't sell the car to the next in line legitimate bidder, they let it sell to one of the inside bidders. So here we have inside bidding, asking for a fake i.d. and letting bad dealers stay on their site. All while an honest dealership myself gets inventory held up that I need to sell. I have the fowarded emails and texts from my photagrapher to back all these facts up and I couldnt believe what I read. Nothing said here can be taken as defamatory as it is all factual and true with picture proof. I am a dealership that provided all the proper legal paperwork and identification and had it scanned and sent to Cars & Bids by my personal notary. It's looking like Cars & Bids is going to give the common and generic sidestep reply that contains alot of words but very little information that appears to be the norm for them. Do I need to contact my lawyer and the attny general? They are costing me money.

Hi Brad,
We’re sorry to hear that you’re unsatisfied with your experience using Cars & Bids, and we appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your feedback.
Cars & Bids takes the legitimacy of sellers and bidders seriously. Despite numerous attempts to understand exactly who we were working and communicating with at your dealership to represent the cars you submitted for sale, we have been unable to verify with certainty whom we were communicating with and their right to sell the vehicles submitted to us.
Our first dealings were with a gentleman named Tim, who created multiple accounts, was caught fraudulently bidding, and was subsequently banned from participating on Cars & Bids. Your photographer represented himself to us as an agent of your dealership and as a different person unaffiliated with Tim despite representing the same dealer license in addition to him continuing to submit vehicles under the name Tim. We were prepared to move forward with your photographer after speaking with him and offering the benefit of the doubt when we asked him to provide identification, but he provided us with a name and ID that do not match. Given these discrepancies, all of which led to further concerns regarding transparency and accuracy, we have elected to not move forward with submissions from the associated dealership at this time as we cannot ensure that our bidders will receive a fair auction and positive outcome post-auction. In the end, bidders rely on Cars & Bids to complete our due diligence and ensure that sellers on our site are who they say they are and have the ability to sell the vehicles without doubt.
We are willing to reopen discussions with the dealership owner provided we can gain clarity on the relationship between Tim, Donald, Charles, and Bradley, the two dealership licenses, and a paper trail showing the current dealership’s ownership of the vehicle submitted. Please email us at [email protected] if you have any questions or can provide the information we need to move forward.

It's legit! don't let the bad reviews scare you
I feel like most of the bad reviews are from people who were trying to sell their cars and got rejected, but understand that it is a site made for auto enthusiasts, not a substitute for craigslist. They only sell the cars they deem fit for their market (auto enthusiasts). I bought a car through this site, and had my doubts at first, but the process was easy (wayyyyyy easier than dealing with a dealership or used car lot) and reliable. Now that I know this is an option, I don't see myself going into a dealership ever again.

In June I purchased a nice AMG and the process was simple and fun. I managed to get a very good price and since the vehicle had no-reserve, my final bid was a winner. Now that I had a new car, I sent pics and a description of an LS I had to sell. The car was accepted quickly, but the process was a bit long after pics and videos were posted and this is why I didn’t give 5 stars. Vehicle sold to a really nice fellow and the delivery was seamless. Very pleased with C&B. Would consider using again without hesitation.

Rejected My Car and Non Communitive on Reserve
Very slow and non-specific communication. I have been in the auto business for 53 years. I buy and sell mostly collectible, classic and high-performance cars. I have sold numerous cars on BringATrailer. This is the first car I submitted to Cars and Bids. It was a friends car that I was helping him sell. They didn't accept it, said it "didn't fit". I asked why. They said "Miles, automatic". It was a 1999 with 65000 miles, 2700 miles per year, I guess was "too high". I asked 3 times what they thought the Reserve should be. No answer. Sad but I guess they are happy with what business they have. Good, I won't be using them.
