Prompt payment of unrefunded expenses for canceled trip
I had to cancel a trip because of a need for heart surgery. The insurer paid all claims eligible under the policy for nonrefundable amounts we had paid for the trip for my family, and did so expeditiously. Since I received flight credits from an airline upon cancellation of airline tickets, I wasn’t eligible for reimbursement of that expense until the credits expired unused. I was particularly gratified that the insurer paid that portion of the claim promptly after I provided evidence of expiration of the credits. I was surprised to discover the policy as a benefit of my credit card. Only expenses paid with the credit card were covered. I will now be sure to use that card for all of my travel expenses.
