This is the worse bank I've ever used. They lose money and take money from your accounts. I haven't used my card now I'm overdrawn and they trying to say I put the money into cashapp but the account won't allow you to put money into cashapp that you don't have. My account won't allow me to send money I don't have. I can't overdraw

Do Not Do Business With This…
Do Not Do Business With This Company:You will regret it in the future. I paid every payment on time and paid my auto loan out in 2017. BMO Harris sent me the title a month later. I misplaced the title and went to the local tag office to order a replacement title on June 13 2025. I was told on June 13th 2025, that BMO Harris never removed the lien, after I paid the vehicle off. I contacted the BMO Customer Relations Department and they acknowledged the mistake and advised I would receive a release of lein form in the mail. I later spoke with a manager and she refused to help me and give me her employee ID #. BMO Harris has given me the run around ever since and refused to discuss the matter with me. when I attempted to follow up with them on June 24, 2025, as I have not received the lien release they said they would send, so I can get the title for the vehicle. I paid every penny I owed this company with no late fees and this is the appreciation they show me.

Absolute trash. You will regret using these criminals instantly.
Absolute trash. This is the third world country of the banking industry. If you are a current customer and you are on here complaining about them you should seriously consider taking your complaint somewhere it will make a difference. I suggest to you that go to the Federal Trade Commission and initiate a complaint. Also, the practices in place at this institution are criminal which qualifies it for fraud complaints at the IC3 wensite. This is is the FBI online crimes division. You will need to have your data organized when you go to IC3 and file a complaint. Some of the things you're going to need are the account numbers, the address of the headquarters or the branch you you walked into to open your account if you did so in person. And if you did so in person it would be good to have that branch managers name. These are complaints that will eventually cause problems for scum organizations like BMO. Trustpilot is nothing more than a gossip channel. What's more is TrustPilot removes negative complaints regularly for illegitimate reasons because it works in trustpilots favor for businesses to post a good score on trustpilot. Why? Simple. Because then there is an organization out there that puts the TrustPilot brand out in front of their company and therefore they'll be seen in a positive light by all the customers of that business. Therefore, TrustPilot is a compromised and even corrupted platform that really is useless except for P2P word of mouth

Worst ever Bank
Worst ever - they are quick to take your money but make it impossible to get it back. They place 30 day limits on money transfers to my other banks - in effect keeping my money as long as they can so they can use it.
I’ve asked for them to call me but they will not. Doug Romans - if they happen to read this give me a call!
My advice is to stay away from BMO altogether.

Horrible
I left BMO because of multiple issues.
1) They repeatedly gave out my account information and balance to someone who was not on my account
2) They allowed this person who was not on my account to transfer money out of my account
3) They informed my account beneficiary that he was the beneficiary. (NOT their place to divulge that private information.)
4) Twice they gave me fairly large sums of money without confirming my identity.
5) Even though I repeatedly asked them to confirm with ID whenever giving out my account information or MONEY, they never did.
With a 94% 1 star rating, wouldn't you think they would at least TRY to improve?

Terrible Service
Terrible Service – Not Worth the Headache
BMO Harris is hands down the worst bank I’ve ever used. I recently deposited a personal check and was shocked when they placed a 10-day hold on it, despite my account having no prior issues. I was traveling at the time and had no access to the funds I rightfully expected to be available.
This isn’t the first time either, it's the second or third instance of BMO placing an excessive, unjustified hold on my deposits. I’ve been patient, but enough is enough. This kind of unpredictable and unreasonable banking practice is incredibly frustrating and completely inconvenient.
Like many others, I’ll be closing my account as soon as the funds are released. Avoid the stress and choose a bank that respects its customers and their time.

Nightmare bank
Nightmare bank. I was with Bank of the West when BMO acquired them. It seemed fine initially, but I had trouble opening a business account, and then they were unable to recognize a real, valid eCheck and refused to deposit it. This was the branch manager. I was able to deposit it via the app, but seriously? They have consistently mishandled my money. I am currently in a dispute with them over bogus charges, which they have denied. Truly a dishonest, inept bank, avoid them if possible.

I had a horrific experience with BMO
I had a horrific experience with BMO that cost me about $1,500. I had a sizable CD that matured and I wanted to close my account and have the money sent to me. Notwithstanding that this is the year 2025, and even though I had sent them a wire transfer when I opened the account, they insisted on mailing me a paper check. When the check never arrived, they made canceling that check and having a new one issued exceedingly difficult. They refused to send me a new check unless I signed and had notarized an indemnity agreement in which I had to essentially claim responsibility for losing the check, even though it had never arrived, and to indemnify them for any loss if someone else cashed that check. Then they made me feel like they were doing me a favor by waving their 90-day waiting period to send me a new check. I finally, after much effort, reached an agent who was very helpful, and after I emailed her the signed and notarized indemnity agreement (which she was unable to waive), was able to arrange to have a replacement check sent to me via UPS, but still it was over a month between closing the account and having the money, a cost to me of $1,500 in lost interest (which of course BMO benefited from by having an extra month to use my money without having to pay any interest.) I don't think I've ever said this type of thing in any review of any nature before, but I will not be doing any business with BMO ever again. This was truly a nightmare experience.
