I've got to keep it real because I see the bad reviews but I really want my rent on my credit report. I just used it with my Discover card and it was a flawless experience. It sent me the deposit amount to verify bank and my rent portal accepted it with no problem. I pushed a few more keys and rent paid, receipt from rental property emailed instantly. I initiated the verification process on the previous day and it took a minute with RENTCAFE. Maybe it's the card or your portal but Discover and Bilt along with RENTCAFE portal went seamlessly...hope this helps

They are a horrible company and a scam
They are a horrible company and a scam. They try to make you believe that you are able to use any card and pay no fees then they add tons of fees on top

The Bilt app is absolutely atrocious and user un-friendly. You need two apps, the Bilt and Wells Fargo apps to effectively manage the card. I could not set up online banking through Wells Fargo to enroll in auto-payments, eventually leading late payment a few days later when I overlooked my last statement's due date. I panicked and accidently selected a saved payment method for a closed bank account in the Bilt app to make the payment in full. I realized immediately upon making the mistake and called customer support to explain the error and payed the full balance the same day. It didn't matter; my account was closed for "fraudulent activity." Please do yourself a favor and avoid Bilt and Wells Fargo all together.

Customer service and the payment system need urgent improvements.
The card has a lot of potential and offers great benefits, but honestly, its policies make it very inconvenient to use. The biggest issue is the payment process if you don’t have a Wells Fargo debit account. You’re only allowed to make three online payments — after that, you’re forced to call a representative, answer unnecessary questions like your full address, apartment number, full name, etc. It’s a slow and absurd process for something as basic as making a payment.
I’ve had to spend up to 40 minutes on the phone just to complete a single payment. To me, this feels like a tactic to pressure users into opening a Wells Fargo account, which is completely unacceptable. Personally, I prefer using my American Express cards, where making a payment takes seconds and involves no hassle.
Additionally, the process to verify citizenship or residency was also unnecessarily long, confusing, and bureaucratic. All of this makes the customer experience frustrating, even though the card itself offers decent perks.
In short, the product isn’t bad, but the customer experience definitely is. They need to update their policies, stop forcing conditions on users, and make the card easier to manage. If they don’t, they’ll continue losing users who, like me, prefer more practical and user-friendly cards. I hope they take customer feedback seriously because there’s a lot they need to improve.

Stay Away from Bilt and Wells Fargo!
6/9/25 Bilt closed my account for no explanation. Backstory - I made the full payment to my account every Friday for over a year. Then, all of a sudden, the payment stopped going through. I called customer service and they said we can't explain why it didn't go through over the phone and you need to wait to receive a letter. I just received the letter (6/23/25), after the account was closed on June 9th and keep in mind - payment is due 7/1/25! The letter says "your credit card no longer meets out lending requirements based on a suspicious payment or account activity." I never changed my bank account or missed a payment. Confused, I called Customer Service (833-404-2272). After about a hour and half, and getting transferred 5 times, they told me that they don't need to provide an explanation of what suspicious activity they found and can close my account for any reason. I am now going to every website I can find to bring awareness to how horrible Wells Fargo is and especially the Bilt Credit card. I have perfect credit, never missed a payment, and I have multiple credit cards. This is my worst experience to date. STAY AWAY!

Worst experience making a dispute
Worst experience making a dispute. When I called initially the guy was like oh yeah these go through all the time, specifically said I could dispute again after if it doesn’t go through, then, it didn’t get approved and they said there was nothing else I could do. I was out on multiple rounds of exhausting holds with Mark who each time said the same thing- unfortunately there’s nothing we can do bc xyz when the initial person I called said he would submit the claim if it was him. There gos $900. Terrible customer service and considering canceling my account!! Never experienced this before.

Stay away from BILT - the risk of declined rent payments and cost of fines is not worth it!
BILT rewards and intended use of the associated Wells Fargo Mastercard were both a disappointing and frustrating experience:
I opened a BILT rewards account and the associated Mastercard for the billed purpose of paying rent and utilities in order to earn points on my associated credit card miles account. I used this process for 3 months (or attempted to) before closing account. Here is what went wrong:
1. when paying rent/utilities with the card's associated routing and account numbers, payments must first be "authorized" EACH TIME in the app/website.
2. only one account is eligible for "auto-recurring authorization"
3. the second/additional account(s) must be manually authorized each month. In my experience, this process is faulty and unreliable.
4. My RENT was DECLINED TWO MONTHS IN A ROW due to the authorization process not working (despite getting a confirmation page with account information telling me I was good to proceed with payment on processor's website, both times).
5. These errors not only resulted in $100 of insufficient funds fines, but also damaged my relationship with my apartment leasing agency.
To add to this frustration:
-BILT has no live customer service.
-The chat app took OVER 4 HOURS to put a "live agent" on the chat & they were unable to resolve my issue, resulting in an email chain anyway.
-BILT then sent automated emails daily reminding me of an open ticket and closed the ticket when it took me 2 days to complete necessary steps and reply. I am still waiting to see the resolution of my request to close the BILT rewards account...
Wells Fargo owns the credit card - they closed my account (as far as I am aware) quickly and easily with one phone call.
2 small positives:
- BILT reimbursed me for one of the $50 fines (after they failed to approve my rent payment for the second month in a row) and this refund was a seamless and quick process.
- transferring points to your associated credit card is easy and worked as billed
**just be aware that you do have to make 5 transactions inside each statement period (including rent/utility payments) to 'unlock' those reward points.
Unless they remove the pre-authorization step, this card/process is unreliable, and the penalties of declined payments are not worth the points value in my opinion.

So disappointed to Bilt
It is the most worst service I have ever experienced.
I really want to give 0 star but this system does not allow
Cons:
1. Unreliable System
I enter the right address to the system but it shows wrong address. KYC (Know Your Customer) process is the most important principle to guarantee their bank integrity. I have been working in the Investment Bank over 10 years now and failure of the KYC process is the major issue needs to be fixed ASAP but they just tell me "wait" almost a month and never fixed
2. Worst Customer service experience.
It is almost impossible to contact them via phone or a chat. Once I saw the problem in #1, I have tried to contact them but I could not even I waited over 3 hours.
Moreover, I paid my bill using their "billpay" service but all of them are failed and I got a charge back. However, before I got charge-back, CS told "Oh it is processing... you can use even system does not show incorrect address" But it is lie.
Pros:
I can close this the most horrible and worst service via email. No need to wait never-answer chat or phone-call.
