Finding a counselor can be very time consuming. Also it normally requires leaving and taking time to visit multiple offices. BetterHelp matches you with counselors and ways of communicating. Video, Phone or text/email. Its great that you don't have to leave home, and as a full time caregiver, that is priceless to me.

I've had an excellent experience with BetterHelp. My counselor has been so supportive, and has helped me to find greater emotional balance during very difficult and uncertain times. I like the video call format, which is one of the options for sessions, though there are others as well, I think phone calls and texting. I like it that I can see and connect with my counselor without having to leave the house. As the pandemic is not yet over, this has been so important. I also feel like I get a lot of bang for my buck on BetterHelp. I have weekly sessions, and can write my counselor anytime I need to. I highly recommend using BetterHelp.

On a scale of 1-10, you guys would barely score a 1; and that’s being generous. The only reason you get one star is because James, my most recent therapist is the best person I’ve gotten the chance to know. I didn’t even get to complete my intake before you guys ripped away my free trial. I was expecting that my trial would start over once I got matched with James because of my horrendous experience with my last matched therapist. But nah, you guys quickly tried to sink your teeth into my credit card and since I hadn’t even had a chance to really “try” out the service, I immediately canceled. For one, it’s very very obvious that you guys are only here for your bottom line and profits. You claim to be making therapy “more accessible” but completely overprice your services. You cannot charge the SAME amount as in person therapy and claim to give it for ‘a fraction of the cost’. Quite frankly that’s false advertisement and not true at all. I completed your offered rate to therapy in my area, and you guys charge just as much as a traditional therapist. I cannot afford the prices you list out, and you guys could not care less. Every single interaction that I’ve ever had with a member of the ‘Betterhelp Support Team’ has been beyond rude, condescending and unhelpful. You guys aren’t helping people, you’re taking advantage of people who are already seeking help in this dark world. You should all be very ashamed of yourselves.

While trial periods are not automatically extended upon switching therapists, our Member Success team is always happy to provide extensions in cases where a member reaches out regarding dissatisfaction with their therapist or experience. We also apologize if you feel our prices weren't as low as you had expected, given perhaps the rates available to you in your area. One session in person can cost between $80-$200 out-of-pocket in most areas. With BetterHelp, you'd be getting one month of access to all platform features (including the option to have a weekly live session), often times within that same price range. Maybe would have been good but I stated that my income is very low, yet I would have had to pay 4 weeks at once? If I could have paid for a week to test it out I would have done so, but throwing over 200$ at an unknown service feels a little sketchy, also the reviews are from very good to very bad so I decided not to pay and search for a counsellor IRL who I at least can see person to person.
