BetterHelp connected with a wonderful therapist right away, after asking a short series of simple to answer questions about my therapy experiences in the past and my preferences (gender, style, etc). They also offer an easy way to switch therapists if you wish to, which is important because finding a therapist you have trust in and can build rapport with is critical to successful therapy.

Overall, I love using BetterHelp. My therapist is wonderful, and it has been amazing to be able to have sessions with her online, especially because of COVID. I've also had to move several times in the past few years so it has been really amazing that I am able to keep the same counselor, since it's not tied to location. The main reason for my 4 stars instead of 5 would be that sometimes the video chat freezes up, which can be annoying and take time away from the session. It also isn't terribly cheap, and it would be nice if they took insurance.

3/5 at best. While I have no problem with the the therapist I was assigned, the application and the browser are wonky. The mobile app takes several minutes to load a menu or submit an action. It doesn't seem to be well optimized. As for the browser, it doesn't detect my mic or camera even after I've given permission for the website to use them during my sessions. It would be convenient to have a responsive and optimized desktop application. While the mobile app is serviceable, holding a phone to my face for an hour seems silly. Bar my issues with the software, I am having a positive experience with my therapy.

Without BetterHelp, I don't think I would have gotten the counseling I needed. I love my counselor, Kenya Rouska as well! She really listens to my concerns and realistically addresses them. She replies to my messages really quick. I truly appreciate her and the BetterHelp platform.

My therapist is kind, knowledgeable, and reliable.
