I apologize in advance...
I apologize in advance.... This is not a short story. I was referred by a friend to try Beachbikes for my new bike instead of my local bike store because he walked in and got a great deal. By great I mean that he saved about $25 bucks compared to other bikes stores. He was persistent that I just try them so I caved and said I'd call. I called Beachbikes to see if the bike I wanted was in stock and was told it was and that it would be 1-3 days for pickup with customer assembly or 3-5 days with the bike assembled for me. I chose the assemble it myself option because I needed it by Saturday and since it was in stock I assumed I'd be able to pick the bike up Saturday at the latest as that would be day 3. On Friday I received a call back that there was "good news my bike was being delivered to the warehouse soon". ?? What does that mean? I was told it was in stock. I expressed to the lady on the other line my frustration and that I felt lied to. I told her that I placed the order with Beachbikes because I was told the bike was in stock! Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday all came and went and no call. I'm not happy at this point (obviously) so I call for a status on Wednesday and to change my mind to having Beachbikes assemble the bike since it's now day 6 and still no bike or call. They said no problem and it would be another couple days because I was now asking them to do it. Fine, whatever.... since I needed it for the previous Saturday, I'm in no real hurry at this point. They called me back that afternoon that the bike was assembled and ready for pickup. Great news, finally! I told the gentleman that I would either be by Thursday before they closed or Saturday morning. He said no problem it would be there. So Saturday morning I begin my journey and I drive out there (about 30 minutes and lord knows how many bike shops I passed on the way) only to not find the place. I'm driving all around the area because Google maps and Waze are all telling me I'm on top of the place yet it's nowhere to be seen. There is absolutely no signage and not a single bike outside like most bike shops. It's been a good 20 minutes of driving around and I've called 3 times and left a message because no one is picking up. The store opens at 10AM and it's about 11Am at this point. I finally pull into a driveway with a huge gate thinking this is crazy but it must be behind this gate in this warehouse looking area. I pull forward and the gate does not open; at this point another car pulls up behind me and gets out to talk to me. Turns out he's been circling and calling also trying to find this place. About 1 minute later while we ( this stranger and I) try to figure out our next move a man in truck pulls up and enters a code at the gate and Voila it opens. My new friend (the stranger) and I try to follow him in and are stopped by the man in the truck. He gets out and asks what we are doing. I tell him we are trying to find Beachbikes and ask if it's back there somewhere. He said yes but that they were not open. (WTH, it's 11:15 when they supposedly open at 10) The man in the truck asked us to stay put and he drove to the back of the warehouse area to see if they were open. He drove back to the front gate and said, sorry no one is there. Then someone back in the warehouse area yelled to pull forward so we were waived in. If this isn't already a long, creepy story it gets worse..... The stranger and I park our cars and walk to the back of the store where a large garage door is open and there is a man there clearly just putting bikes together. We tell this man working in the warehouse that we are here to pick up our bikes and he tells us to hold on. He disappears and makes a call and resurfaces about a good 10 minutes later only to tell us that the owner is running late. Mind you it's now like 11:30 ish and they opened at 10. We ask how late and he tells us that someone will be here at 1PM. I've already driven 30 minutes to get there, rode around aimlessly trying to find this mystery bike store in the middle of a weird residential / industrial area to now be told I need to come back. Absolutely ridiculous!! We tell this worker that our bikes are already paid for and we are just here to pick them up. He leaves again, comes back and tells us to go to the front door. Once we walk inside there is another man in there that is super friendly and asks which bikes are ours, pulls them out for us and says we are good to go. Weirdest and most frustrating thing I've gone through in a very long time. I obviously won't be back and I definitely would never recommend it to others. Just insane!
