I purchased the SOS smart watch from Bay Alarm Medical for my mother in November, 2023. She lives alone and I was worried she would have a fall. We tested the device and it worked. Two days ago, she fell and broke her hip. The watch would not connect to the service. It took her an hour to crawl to the living room to get her phone to call 911. This device was supposed to provide peace of mind. It had one function and it failed during the one time we needed it to work. When I got to the hospital, I thought maybe in her panic she didn't press the button correctly. I could not get it to connect either. To make matters worse, customer service was the worst part. It was an overseas call center and the customer service rep's actual response to me was, "Im sorry, I can reset the watch from here."I was calm and rational and I'm not even sure what I was expecting to get from the call but that wasn't the response I wanted. Would you want them to simply reset the watch from a distance like it was your cable modem? Would you trust the watch to perform at a later date? So after getting very upset, I canceled my service. They will issue no refund for faulty equipment. After several more calls, I finally got a rep that seemed to care and at least offered an apology. My advice, steer clear of Bay Alarm. They don't actually care about you or your loved one.

Ordered unit on 12/01/23 from a very nice knowledgeable person. Boy did they have me fooled. Took my $394.00 annual fee IMMEDIATELY from credit card. Received an email on 12/04/23 that Base Station has shipped. Well that was ABSOLUTE BS. Only thing you were informed of by clicking on tracking was label created. Sent email requesting WHAT is going on & why hasn't item shipped. Auto reply they'll get back to me in a FEW days? Called Customer service on 12/07/23 that here it is SEVEN DAYS after ordering & it's still stating "Label Created" and hasn't shipped yet. Told Customer service if it isn't shipped end of day that I'm canceling & want my 394.00 returned. Well on 12/08/23 a full EIGHT DAYS later, it STILL HADN'T shipped so I canceled though credit card company, (Because if you wait too long it can't be disputed) and started an investigation into fraud. I then CALLED Bay Alarm Medical telling them I canceled through Credit card. They gave me the usual apologetic BS line.

I have had a sos mobile button on a necklace for about 7 months. Tonight it just fell off from the necklace. There is a cheap plastic connection to the necklace. Fortunately I did not lose the button but there is no way to connect it back to the necklace. It was cheaply made and defective. Very upsetting. My mother had a medical alert button around her neck for 10years and it never broke. I am sure that I am not the only one this happened to. This cost $99. I will call them tomorrow and they better make it right, My button still works but what good is it if you can no longer attach it to a necklace? I don’t even wear it to bed because that is when I charge it. I always wear it under my blouse. I called them and asked to speak to a supervisor because I wanted to explain how poorly the clip was that clips from the lanyard to the SOS device. They told me they couldn’t get me a supervisor and then I had to upgrade to a different type of device if I want a better made device. I didn’t need that other stuff that comes with the upgrade. Besides it’s much more complicated to use. And I did not want to spend more money I paid $99 for this device and it should have at least a metal clip not a plastic one that will break. When I called them they told me to get the little plastic pieces out and they’ll send me a new lanyard and then clip the new one in. (Obviously they have had this problem before) I told them if that’s the only option I have that is fine, but it was going to break again because it’s made of plastic. So I told her if that’s the only option I have to send went out. But right before we closed our call she was able to get me to a supervisor after telling me she couldn’t get me to a supervisor. Tha supervisor’s name was Ingrid. She listened very well and told me they do need to do some thing about it but in the meantime my only option was the lanyard. This week I waited for it to come but it never came so I called them on Thursday and no one had put the order in. So I’ve been without this lanyard for over a week. I asked them if they could rush it or overnight it but they refused. Now it is Saturday and I still do not have my lanyard. Customer Service is so frustrating when all they do is read from a script. I had a little hope when I talked to Ingrid. She assured me that she would pass the information on about the defective plastic clip. We will see what happens. The reason I got this Device was because I had an unexpected stroke but fortunately they were able to get my blood clot out and every function of mine came back. But they don’t know why I had it and they found out I have a hole in my heart and I’m terrified of it happening again and being all alone. That is why I got the button. Another thing I don’t really appreciate them saying is we will send you a one time complementary lanyard. I told them that’s not very reassuring because I know it’s going to break again because the clip is made of plastic. They need to fix the clip or make it more like a key fob.

Poor service, unfortunately service is not as stated prior to subscribing. Very "robotic" service. Phone service is unprofessional and "scripted" - unable to handle the call if not in their script. Equipment did not work correctly - kept going off repeatedly and unable to go to "sleep" mode for returning by postage mail. Phone operators DID NOT refer to the notes provided for the alarm purchaser.

There is no occasional check up on us to make sure we are alright. They don't check to see if the equipment is working correctly. They have not been asking for a security question, when contact with them has been made. It could be an intruder or anyone else answering the call.

Hi Irene - Thank you for your review. Customer acknowledgement and feedback is very important to our team and are using it to improve our products and services. We do automatic testing on the main base unit every week and will contact the customer if there is an issue with the connection. We cannot test the button ourselves, which is why we advise customers to test their button(s) at least once per month. This allows customers to stay familiar with emergency calls, our dispatch center, and to ensure the button is working properly for them. In regards to security, we absolutely verify information, but will never provide it to the person on the other end, even if it is the customer. (i.e. If someone calls needing the lockbox code, we won't give it out even if they verify all account info. This is to protect the customer.) If there is an emergency and you push your button, but an intruder is there, they would need to verify account information. If they cannot, our dispatch center will take protocol as an emergency. We are not a home security company, so we can't protect the home entirely from intruders, but a medical alert system is a fast and easy way to get help in any emergency versus dialing a phone and calling for help. If you need assistance with testing your system, please feel free to contact our Tech Support team and we'd be happy to help you! Thank you again for your feedback!

I received incredibly poor customer service today when attempting to get a simple billing problem resolved. Long story short - the person I spoke with said they'd have to speak with my dying Grandmother, whom they have NEVER spoken with, to get our problem resolved. I respect any effort toward consumer protection; however, I opened this account, I pay the bill, I have made 100% of the phone calls and emails about it's maintenance, etc. Never once has anyone spoken with my Grandmother regarding her unit, or requested to do so -- until today, when I was told a woman who barely knows her name must speak with a customer service rep to have a simple billing issue resolved.... for the bill that I pay. Unbelievable. When the rep I spoke with couldn't resolve my issue I asked to speak with her superior, to which she responded "they can't help you either." After a long hold I was told they'd return my call today. 8 hours later, no returned call. Additionally, our unit was defective, which would never cause me to write a bad review -- things happen and technology fails, but after today's incident I felt the need to share in an effort to save someone else the headache of this level of ignorance.
