No, Batelle didn’t pay me to write this review. And no, I’m not a reviewer. In fact, this could be amongst the 2 or 3 reviews I ever wrote for any company. But this time, I feel morally obligated. First, a bit of context below:
I have a 13 months old son and it’s just me and my wife who’s raising this beautiful kid. When I way it’s just us - I mean it literally. No friends, nannies, grandparents or relatives. Just us. He’s a breastfed baby and very chill. Until it’s bedtime. He kept waking up in the middle of the nights and would not go back to sleep before my wife fed him.
It, very quickly, got so bad to the point that he’d refuse to let me wife get out of the bed. Every time she left the room, he’d wake up almost instantaneously and start crying. It was like he was sleeping with an eye open. Until we bumped into Batelle and decided to give it a shot. Ah, what the hell!
Pricing: $1500 may seem a lot for a sleep services. But it’s the best $1500 we have ever spent on anything.. When you factor in your sanity, sleep and just being able to complete the basic necessary day to day tasks, $1500 seems nothing! It’s cheap. It really is..
Process: The process is daunting, exhausting and intense. That’s how you know it’ll work. It will take a toll for a few days. Maybe even a week or two. But trust the process. Trust their advisers and most importantly have patience. It’s not for someone who gives up really quick. It’s for someone who’s willing to do anything to keep their families together and make their baby independent in the process.
Do it. You owe it to yourself and to your kid.

The actual best
The actual best. We never felt great about cry it out, so of course all three of our children ended up sleeping basically in bed with me and we would constantly wake one another up all night long. We did sleep school with all three of our children separately, ages 4 years, 2 years, and 15 months at the time. While each child had their own challenges, we felt entirely and completely supported by the Batelle team the entire way through. Once we had gone through sleep school with our two oldest kids, they also helped us troubleshoot some issues when we transitioned them back into their bunk bed room sharing situation. I cannot recommend this enough, all three kids now sleep 12 hours each night, everyone is way more happy and well rested - ESPECIALLY mom & dad :)

Amazing experience 1000/1000 recommend
Batelle has changed our life. After many, many, many failed attempts and sleep training we were desperate. We started doing some research and in October 2021 we stumbled across Batelle. Our beautiful baby girl (10 months at the time) went from sleeping in our bed, waking multiple times a night, and waking up at 6 am to putting herself to sleep, sleeping through the night in her own bed, and sleeping in (or playing in her crib) until 7am!
They helped support us ensure we did it in a calm manner, without any cry it out method. through so many up and downs over the past 8 months. They’ve been by our side through some tough transitions and regressions.
Our daughter hit the 18 month regression a little early (around 16months) while getting her 4 molars, and she caught a stomach bug. All while I was about 20 weeks pregnant. During this time penny, Ayla and there teams were so supportive. They did daily checks with me, helped create a smooth transition plan to get Ella through the tough time, and stayed by our side checking in to make sure we were okay!
Even when sleep school is completed they are all just a quick message away, with Casey being able to hop on a quick call as well to help you figure things out!
They really make you feel safe and comfortable and help give you the guidance, tools and confidence to complete the program.
Each stage provides amazing guides with amazing support ready to answer any and every question you may have.
Overall our household is a much happier place now that we are all sleeping! And we can definitely say that baby number 2 will be joining Batelle as soon as he is old enough!
They’ve changed our lives, and they can help change yours too! The only thing I wish we did was join sooner! Thank you Batelle for being our angels on the phone!

good, but better for the US
I enjoy the support from Batelle but I do feel it’s very firm. My daughter has reflux and I found doing sleep school flared it, which they made her work through. Admittedly she is sleeping well in her own bed now, but we stopped at step 3 with no plans to move forward with sleep school.
We also didn’t want to ditch the dummy, however did go forward with trying. It definitely did help with my daughters sleep but we actually have given it back to her. They didn’t seem overly happy about this and encouraged weaning it again.
The app is a bit hit and miss, it played up a lot in sleep school and I’m still after 2 months getting notifications about sleep school…. Which I’m not doing.
All in all, it helped but it’s just so firm set. The expectations are high and you do feel like a failure if you don’t reach their expectations.
Also recently we have found out our daughter benefits from a feed right at bedtime which is massively frowned upon with their system. But with this she sleeps well and has one feed a night at 8months old. Rather than 3 to 4 feeds that she was doing.
I don’t know, it does seem like a waste of money but it has helped. Also being outside of the US didn’t help. The kit they send over is all US plugs and then zoom calls can be a tad hard with timing.
I do recommend the hug though.
edited to add. that I do recommend them if you are in the US
I do not think they are frauds, and they have been brilliant service wise. just not quite the right fit for us with our daughter but it HAS helped.

Thank you for this review and your openness. I’m sorry it wasn’t a good fit for you.
In terms of it being firm set, I think that is very valid feedback. We have subsequently added an option for parents to go more at a pace that feels right for them rather than feeling like they need to complete in the 2 weeks (which is possible, but some prefer a slower pace). At the end of the day, it’s about what you as a family want and hopefully this will fully address those concerns for our families in the future.

I think I have PTSD after this…
I think I have PTSD after this experience. The theory is great, the women who support you are amazing, but for whatever reason it made everything worse for us. It’s incredibly high touch and perhaps my baby got freaked out by it. I can’t even say the mantra anymore because it gives me anxiety. We stuck to it like glue, did everything we were supposed to do and even repeated it. But it didn’t work. And every month I see the money taken off my credit card I feel like it was $1500 wasted. Tried to get a refund but you have to send everything back in that giant box and pay for shipping etc.
Response from Batelle Sleep SchoolMay 23, 2022
Hi Rebecca, first off I’m really sorry hear about your stressful time. My initial thought is that we have number of Sleep School graduates based in Singapore who I’m sure would be willing to come over and help you out if you were up for it?
Secondly, looking at your account we have no record of you requesting a refund. The last correspondence is some schedule advice we gave just under a month ago. I assume we missed a request, so I do apologize if this was the case. Do you have any indication of who you reached out to would be really helpful for us to plug any gaps?
We are more than happy to honor a refund should you want it. Our policy is to send a return label at our expense, but given you are in Singapore, I think it is probably worth us forgoing that step. If you can please confirm that you’d like the refund actioned, I will cancel right away. My email is [email protected]

got the worst sleeper to trust sleep, and a very serious deadpan mama to have more fun
I recommend Batelle sleep/the Miss Megan method to anyone who's struggling with sleep. This is a remote sleep school that helped my son sleep well consistently, empowered me to handle any sleep obstacles and regressions, and taught me to be a better parent. At first it seems expensive, but you are actually purchasing quite a few tangible goods , services, and skills. And 10 months later, I actually feel they've been quite generous with the support. I was ready to pay for a night nanny for a couple of weeks just to regain sanity and sleep, and that would have cost more than Batelle, which will continue to be there for me until my son is 5 years old. He was around 14 months when he started.
BEFORE BATELLE
As a newborn, my son would wake every 20 min to 90 min. At 3 months, I started spending 3-4 hours a day every free time I had reading about sleep on google and Reddit and trying different things. i felt like a sleep expert. We were thrilled when we got 3-hour stretches, then 4, then 5 hours just be adjusting schedules and feeds. Bedtime was a nightmare, he would cry even though we would rock him, and it would take an hour. For middle of the night, he would be up for 2-3 hours. From 5-months to 10-months, we tried various versions of cry it out including TCB, Ferber, Sleep Lab, Huckleberry. We were successful in getting a week or two of sleeping through the night BUT it was extremely cruel, I had rocketing anxiety, my kid started having behavioral problems, his voice was hoarse and he had a hernia from crying for hours. AND THEN, we would hit a developmental milestone and we would find ourselves having to re-train as if it was from scratch, with extended amounts of crying. I was so frustrated because I was following everything to the letter. So I gave up and tried co-sleeping and sleep got even worse. I found Batelle at 3am after googling gentle sleep training.
DURING BATELLE
It was the most amazing, heart warming, confidence boosting journey. You get out what you put in. This is not where you have a sleep consultant come to your home and do the work for you. You have to attend class, learn, apply, and have fun with your child. It is challenging and it's 100% worth it. It translated to helping me with tantrums, bonding, and communicating with my child. It is not tear-free. My child did cry, but I learned how to interpret those cries and I was allowed to provide support and be a rock to my child when he needed it (vs having to listen outside or not be allowed to touch him). The sleep training not only taught him to stop being scared of his bedroom, and trust sleep, it also strengthened my bond with him and his trust in me. With Batelle I never had to doubt or question whether I was doing the right thing. I saw him progress every night and I saw his resiliency and safety building and it was beautiful thing. The 24 hour support during the 2 weeks is incredible. The Batelle sleepguides kept me going, encouraged me, and helped me tremendously live. We had so many celebrations along the way. It took my son 10 nights to get to the 5 minute bedtime and on the 13th night he slept through the night (he's a slow but steady learner!) . The first morning my husband and I saw him wake up and sit there quietly in his crib, we couldn’t believe that was our son. It felt like magic.
AFTER BATELLE
Yes, it still works 10 months later and best of all, it's SUSTAINABLE. Kids aren't robots, and sleep is a continued effort. We've had daycare, months of colds/sickness/etc, travel, teething including molars, multiple developmental milestones, and with every regression we've been able to get back on track. Most nights if he does wake up, I can sing to him over the baby monitor and he goes back to sleep in just a couple of minutes. I've reached out with questions to the Batelle team and get answers whenever I've encountered something new. I have more patience with toddler tantrums because I trained to be a cheerleader for him when he tried to fight sleep. He understands the expectations for sleep, the language and cues for bedtime, and we are confident to enforce it. SLEEP IS EVERYTHING! THANK YOU!
