Caveat - Purchase experience process - Tips Orange county California
I bought a car here and I would say to avoid.. read my tips and this review is a post purchase over 1 year ago. I had posted on yelp only but will start to post on trustpilot. Purchased at AutoNation Honda Costa Mesa Spent 1-2 Weeks going back to service department to fix issue that they created. Sale guy disappear after he closes the sale and their is no other customer support to help. Simple inquiry will fall into black hole. PROS: 1. They will allow you to use CC if most of the transaction is cash. (Carmax, shift.com, carvana.com will not allow any CC charge). 2. Test drive any type of car that's on their lot. Sales guy usually not pushy. 3. Autonation fee is about 130 (shift.com fee is alot higher but you get personalized drop off/delivery service - you can read my review on shift) Cons: 1. Buying process will take the entire day (literally, I stayed there for 3 hours waiting for finance guy to do his song and dance). I paid cash and small amount on CC. I had opted out on extended warranty 2. Once the sale is done, you are on your own. Sales and Fleet manager will disappear and calling there .. you get bounced and no follow up. 3. Issues with vehicle: they pass you onto service department which is disconnected to sales department. If the deal was given from sales, make sure you get it in writing (their computer system does not show details on what was offered - free oil change, etc...) 4. This autonation only knows honda cars and if you buy european cars.. you're out of luck. the sales rep doesn't know product and the technicians can only do basic repairs. 5. Sales Manger (that sits at the corner near door) has ZERO customer service and really don't care about anyone. He doesn't go to greet you, thank you or help with any issues. They continue to pass the buck to the next department. The sales guy seems to be reluctant to ask to reduce price even if you find flaws on the car. 6. Carfax is not fully accurate, they have a auto detailer there that will fix blemishes and the sales person will not tell you if it was touched. Transparency of the vehicle is below 75% Overall, I would say.. avoid if possible.. 1. you can't really negotiate the price even if you find issues on the car 2. follow up is a bear... you will be pulling teeth and fighting for things that they did wrong initially. 3. Service department over worked or they can't follow up on all the inquires and issues. 4. Spam email - once they collect your info.. they will continue to spam email and I keep getting calls for warranty. Very annoying. Buying a car should be exciting and fun but they really made the entire experience horrible. Tips: 1. don't rely on yelp review .. check BBB for their complaint ratings (look for recent reviews on specific location) 2. have all in writing from 'manager' not sales guy 3. would avoid since follow up is really BAD 4. Trade in value less than what carvana or shift can offer This review is post sale purchase dated over a year ago. My post in Yelp was the original.
