We pay $198 a month for dental for our children. Well my son had two baby teeth that just needed a little help coming out and my daughter needed a filling for one cavity. We were behind on a month because of a card switch. My husband called and talked to someone and made a payment and she said just make another payment in 2 weeks and you will be caught up. So we were going to do that next week. Woke up this morning and saw they drained our bank account and took $400 out. And it's SATURDAY MORNING. WE HAVE NO MONEY FOR THE WEEKEND TO EAT OR DO ANYTHING. Our dental bill for taking our kids to the dentist is $280 because Ameritis doesn't cover anything!! What are we paying $200 a month for if we still have to pay out of pocket $300 for a routine visit to the dentist!! Canceling my plan and hopefully getting my money back

Signing up with Ameritas dental was one of the worst descisions I have made. Do not listen to customer service. I was told I was covered for a certain procedure but come to find out it was 8 days before the 6 mo major was covered... another rep said it was a year. So they don't even understand their own policies. I was then told I could send in a one time appeal. But that was also denied. If I would have been told the truth I could have waited 8 days to save me $4k. I have cancelled my policy. I cannot recommend a company that does this and not stand with what their employees state.... No to Ameritas

After being on Ameritas Dental for 3 years. We finally took a look at what they paid out on us.me and my wife. The list of Doctors they give you is a crock of ---'- every Dentist we went to didnt take them so it was out of network.. after 3 years they paid a total of 300. Dollars. After paying their cost at 98.00 a month 1st 2 years then it jumped to 106.98 the last 8 months before i canceled it. This company needs to be investagated. And if you ask for a item cost before you have it done...they would Denie it. Worst insurance i ever had.

I took out Dental and Vision insurance thru Ameritas. I paid Ameritas and received insurance cards in the mail for both dental and vision. When I went to use the vision they denied the coverage. When I called trying to straighten this out I got an answering machine which couldn't help and it was not possible to speak with a person. After over an hour on the phone I learned that Ameritas had sub-contracted the vision insurance to Eye Med. Eye Med had changed the member ID card to something different than shown on the Ameritas card. They also changed the spelling of my name. I never received an insurance card from Eye Med. I haven't tried the Ameritas dental yet.

This is probably the worst insurance I have experienced. Assured when we switched there was a provider in our area. switched. NO pediatric dentist within network within 75 miles. cant trust their provider list online. everyone I've called via their list of in network providers says they arent. Had a one year waiting period. had to pay 4000 out of pocket during that time to an out of network dentist. now if we switch, we have another one year waiting period. But cant get care anywhere due to the insurance apparently being terrible. EVERY DENTIST I have talked to/recommended/asked to join network has refused. Probably for a good reason. Its been 2 weeks since I emailed asking for a provider list. Never received.

Ameritas Dental website needs to allow patient to access claims filed after signing in to give consumers availability to be self sufficient. When I did call I spoke with Kayla and she is knowledgeable, friendly and answered all of my questions. Kayla is essential for your team. She gets a “10” out of “5”. Joan

Terrible company. They barely cover out of network expenses. But the worst part is it takes months to get reimbursed because they constantly are insisting “checks have been mailed” yet they never reach me… theft. Are they hoping people won’t have time to call constantly in order to get their money? Not no, that’s for sure. Pass the buck types with no accountability. Going on 4 weeks after a check was “sent” to me and the agent had the nerve to tell me “it’s not our responsibility.”

It is far cheaper to pay cash. Ameritas dental policies are a total rip off. This applies from standard exams through to emergency dental work, in my experience. There really is no situation where it would make sense to have this "insurance". Also, as if the basics are not bad enough, note the annual cap on what the insurance will pay. In my case it is about $11 more than the total of the annual premiums, which totals nearly $2,000. So, it is almost theoretically impossible for it to work out that paying the premiums did any good.
