Ameritas takes NO responsibility for providing an accurate and up to date provider list. Its the member's responsibility to ensure their list is accurate. And if its not and they cannot provide any provider within a certain distance, they do not honor the network copay. Additionally, they do not cover many charges necessary for dental work. So that is also left on member to pay. I'm considering saving the premium and using it to pay for things without insurance. Likely better off because it eliminates the frustration of them not doing what I pay them for and that money can be used to pay for services.

Bought vision insurance under impression it is better than buying direct from VSP, wrong, for more money I am paying for basic VSP when I went to in network provider and my out of pocket for RX glasses were higher than calculated with Ameritas Go straight to VSP direct and save your money.

I’ve had America’s vision/dental insurance since 2015. I personally didn’t experience any problems with the dental portion and I have had cleanings twice a year. Unfortunately the vision portion was not a good experience at all. It has never been easy for the eye doctors to get information or even find them in the network. Recently I had an exam and got new glasses having to pay out of pocket and submit receipt for reimbursement When calling Ameritas I was explained what to submit and given an email address. I was told I would received an email stating it was received, which I did, and told I would receive another in 2 days. If I didn’t, I was to call back. I didn’t get the second email, called and was told I needed to submit a claim form that they were going to email to me. The form was for a group coverage and I explained I was not in a group, just covered individually. They said they could not reimburse until it was filled out. I completed it, returned it and heard nothing for another week. Called again and was told I needed to submit it to a different email address, because I was not in a group!!! A month later, I finally got my reimbursement, well kind of, I received a check for $54…I had paid over $400. I have cancelled
