This tour did a wonderful Job of teaching about the history of the prison, even before the prison had come about. However, our tour guide seemed to be pushing an agenda rather than educating. We did not appreciate that. In the future, one’s opinions should stay out of the tour.

Jeff our tour guide was amazing, witty, and fun! Behind the scenes tour is the way to go. Learned so much.

We couldn't have done this trip on a better day. As a group we had the food fortune of going to Alcatraz during fleet week which as a group traveling from all over the country we had the chance to experience the airshow while on the Rock. The entire day was amazing.

I intentionally booked a trip to Alcatraz during Fleetweek and timed my guests’ ferry ride before the Blue Angels. I purchased tickets for 2:15 PM departure as the Blue Angels were scheduled for 3PM. We arrived at ferry terminal just before 2PM for the 2:15 boat and waited over an hour before boarding. Departure was closer to 3:15PM. Then, the ride back to The City from Alcatraz was just under an hour wait for us to board.

Great day, great tour. I liked how you could go at your own pace and that the ferry leaves every 30 minutes. My MIL was knocked over by the wind and cut her head on the big, rusty, metal box outside near the old Wardens home. Around the corner where we were taking pictures of the GG bridge. Just a heads up you may need to remove the old rusty box. She cut her head open a bit, but she recently had a tetanus shot, so we didn’t tell anyone. Just an fyi

This was a fun experience My only request would be availability of rangers or volunteers to answer questions through the island

Was expecting to see more on the island than what we did.. $160 to view one building on the whole island is honestly a rip off.
