I was hesitant to go because I was worried it would be "trauma theater" or promoting traumatic experience for profit. NPS did a great job highlighting how the system has changed and made things worse and wove in real stories of harms of incarceration.

What a great experience. All the history and eeriness of this place was incredible. The fact that the narrators were prior inmates or employees was a genius idea. 10 out of 10!

The audio tour was interesting and informative. The staff were friendly. We did the evening tour, and really loved the programming. Ie. The talk about mental health and the doors closing demonstration. Because of the 6.30 start, we did not get to see any of the island itself, however, it was the prison that we wanted to see. Also enjoyed the Native American exhibit.

Alcatraz is always beautiful and intriguing! I had been years ago and i felt like the audio tour is now much shorter. I felt like the storytelling parts were taken out. I truly missed the parts of the audio that have now been omitted.

Second time doing the tour and was excellent. Came with my 80 years old mother who struggled up the hill. Didn’t know how to catch the tram up but took it down. Really love staff!

It was a great day, but it would be nice to see where All Capone, Whitey Bulger, and Bunny Johnson were housed, but overall a great experience. I was last here in 1987 and it was just as informative. Thank you!

Very informative. Provided history that I was not aware of not taught in school. Look forward to seeing the areas that were closed. It was a great experience.
