Run very far away from this company!!!
Aetna repeatedly called me (at least 5 times) to schedule an appointment with one of their doctors for a virtual check-up. In return they promised to reward me with $100 for my info and time. I was hesitant to participate because I feared that it would effect our rates for next year but in the end the $100 reward won me over.
I had the appointment on September 30th.
On October 14th I called and spent 27 minutes with a rep because I hadn't received the reward. I was assured that someone would reach out to me and that I would receive email confirmation of our conversation. Neither of those thing happened.
Today, November 2, I tried to reach out again. It is Saturday and there is no way to contact them. The message link on their website is broken or disabled and their phones are only manned Mon - Fri.
This completely aligns with the coverage that we have received. They deny every claim that we make and you have to spend hours on the phone to get the coverage that you pay for.

Aetna sucks
Aetna sucks. I have been denied coverage for lower back surgery. I have had physical therapy, shots, chiropractic. Was denied by Aetna for surgery after one doctor put in for surgery then I went a got another opinion and they put in for surgery and they denied it again. It’s not like I want surgery but I’m tired of living in pain. Leg goes numb. Sharp and shooting pain down leg. And just tired of it. I injured in 2000 and has just gotten worst over the years

Aetna Nations Benefits
Aetna has an extra benefit card called Aetna Nation's Benefits. It would be nice if Aetna would give that benefit without any strings attached. I downloaded the app so I could see what products I could get today, 10/23/24. The app (Benefits Pro) does not work. The scan-a-product feature does not work. Finding a store gives you links to other kinds of businesses. The only part that works is the link to their store, where almost everything is more expensive.

Aetna Medicare Advantage PPO
This was a Medicare plan I chose for 2024, I will never chose any medical plan from this company again, as they are money hungry, they pay hardly any coverage, the customer service department is unprofessional and dont know their jobs or what they are doing and they are only about themselves and not their customers. I have had multiple issues this year with this company, Starting even before I received my insurance cards. This should’ve been huge red flag for me, It has been a costly red flag for me, As I will not make that mistake again. I paid for an extra prescription plan to cover extra medication’s that were not already on my list. This plan did not even cover medication’s on my list, ie, They paid the smallest portion possible, only .67 out of $10, Not to mention There were ones they did not even cove at all that were on my list, That I was told would be covered. The customer service is by far the worst I have ever encountered. They don’t know their jobs, They can’t answer the questions you provide them to answer, What one person says someone else says something completely different and the left is never talking to the right and vice versa. I even got a claim specialist involved, Cindi, And she sent my claim to the wrong department, Therefore, wasting time, resources and money. Mind you, This was cancer testing, It was deemed medically necessary by my physician, And they denied it, So I appealed it. I was told I could have an appeal within seven days by three separate employees. Then I receive this letter saying it’s not going to happen in seven days and they are going to take as long as necessary to decide on the claim. Medicare guidelines state that genetic testing Should be covered when it’s preventative, And that is what this is and they will not cover it. I am waiting on a decision however I will be filing a complaint against this company. I think that the most frustrating part about all of this is what they say is going to be covered and what you pay for it is not covered, When you are on a limited income, SSDI, You do not have loads and loads of money to spend on unnecessary tests or test that you were told would be covered prior to enrollment and are not covered during your enrollment period. I would send multiple messages to try and get assistance and nobody would ever respond to the messages. I even had direct emails for people within the company and they would not respond to my messages or help me with issues with Aetna. I think possibly the worst part of Aetna is its customer service, They are rude, Uninformed, Knowledgeable about their company in which they represent, And many times when leaving messages, they are very unprofessional and do not say what the messages in regards to or who they are even representing. I would steer clear of this company if You are looking for great customer service, They simply do not have it and don’t know what it is. Also, What they claim they represent and what they actually represent are two complete different things. I could go into great detail of many of the in-depth issues I suffered with this company, but I think with some of the examples I have given, It will give insight to insurance company and leave this one on the side.

I thought Aetna Medicare would be in…
I thought Aetna Medicare would be in seniors advantage ,until I witnessed a senior struggling with his quarterly OTC allowance @ a CVS drugstore. It’s a shame to see that AETNA OTC allowance can only be used @ CVS , and you can mostly purchase CVS brand. If you choose AETNA, brace yourself to feel very limited to what you can buy with their OTC card.

The best customer service experiencer ever!
Just switched to Aetna PPO. I hit a “road bump.” the first day! The customer service rep Sabrina could not have been nicer or more efficient. She immediately got me on a 3 way call with my doctor’s office. The problem was fixed in less than a minute - that’ right less than 60 seconds!
I also had help the day before with a rep named Monique (I think! Sorry! But she attempted a 3 way call also but my doctor’s office was closed)
Two great experiences on the first two days! Thanks Aetna!

Unsuccessful customer service in dealing with Nations Benefits OTC
Concerning their over-the-counter debit card through Nations Benefits I spent many hours on the phone with numerous Aetna customer service agents. All these agents attempted to assist ultimately their assistance completely failed. Aetna is to be faulted for their association with this company--Nation's Benefits OTC debit card, which I believe to be a scam operation out to rip off senior citizens. Many hours I spent on the phone trying to get this incompetent company and their debit card to work, which should never really did and I finally gave up. This scam company is the reason I changed from Aetna to another insurance company--along with submitting numerous complaints complaints to Aetna, Medicare, the BBB, and other online review websites.
Also, Aetna failed to be clear with the health benefits they provide to senior citizens. Thus, I would find out about benefits that were available to me only after those particular benefits were discontinued. However by far the biggest issue was their association with Nations Benefits.
