Unclear pricing, I was told there would be no cost and was not told that the informational call was billed. I was shunted from therapist to therapist without any notice, bio, or getting to pick up, canceled on at the last minute and calls kept being interrupted. They billed me 175 just for the intake info call where they tried to sell me their plan and that was it. The most unprofessional "therapy" I have ever worked with.

Two stars, because the therapy was helpful (although heavily scripted and focused on their app programs), however, their "free 8 week program" that my insurance promoted multiple times via email turned out to not be free. The email clearly said virtual coaching with $0 out of pocket. There was nowhere in the email or in my interactions with the therapist that there would be additional fees for each session. Turns out each visit has a copay. Found this out months later. I'm not really sure the therapy is worth the fees AbleTo is charging insurance, but again, it helped me out of my funk which was the whole point. Proceed with caution. Get pre-approval for the 8 week program from your insurance before your first visit, or don't do it! I can say their customer service was very nice when I had inquired about the disconnect between the email and the fees. The providers should include in their scripts that each participant should confirm with their insurance what expected billing will be prior to starting the program.

I’m not sure how the billing will play out but - I had one session with a therapist who asked for my primary care’s info and the info for my neurologist who treats my migraines with Botox. I got a consent form via email to sign to involve and disclose my mental health and …. HIV status with my physicians? I don’t have HIV but if I did wouldn’t I make that decision on my own? Further - why would either doctor care if I have an 8 week program of CBT??? Seriously something is off here. They claim they “partner” with my insurance provider. They do not. They are simply in network which makes them no more a partner than my podiatrist. My insurance never heard of them except to look them up as in network. That they want to disclose personal CBT therapy Information (from an 8 week program) to my PCP and neurologist is outrageous, ridiculous, a waste of everyone’s time, and in my opinion a violation of my privacy that could be used to stigmatize me. Terrible.

Disappointing and put me off therapy. Was paired with a supposedly licensed therapist and a coach. The coaching was very helpful. The therapist,Deborah, seemed like someone new to the profession who was just trying to meet a certain number of work hours. She was constantly late or absent to scheduled meetings, forcing us to have calls at more inconvenient times and never have an explanation or apology. Sometimes she'd try to redirect conversations to subjects outside the scope of what I was seeking help for, in a way that felt very unprofessional and dismissive, like she was bored by my actual problems and wanted to discuss what she thought was more entertaining on a personal level. This was my first experience with CBT and she was way too familiar, as though she were addressing a friend or peer and not a client. We only had two months and I got more from the coach, who was punctual and a better listener. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who isn't absolutely desperate for any kind of help. When you are depressed but high functioning, they don't know what to do with you. Most of the advice was very basic and unhelpful. You could learn more from a mental health Youtuber,and get support at a more sophisticated level.

It's a scam. They are charging me $170 for a 5 minute call before I consented to start the program. Did not discuss any issues. I had to spell out my info instead of simply filling out a form online. It is twice as expensive as some regular therapist. They are paying low salaries to gig workers and charging same amount as actual therapy while giving you an auto generated procedure instead of a real human analyzing and helping. Please save yourself if you are reading this. You can see a real doctor for same money. AI generated tips can be found for free online.

Both my insurance AND AbleTo represented this service as free. I was completely blindsided by a massive bill of $785. They lure you in with promises of cost-free mental health care, then hit you with exorbitant hidden fees. The initial 20 minute assessment alone cost me $160 – just to be told something I already knew after they did a stupid questionnaire. The subsequent "therapy" sessions were nothing more than scripted nonsense. My therapist fumbled through basic questions and seemed like she didn’t know what to say or advise. She sent me away with elementary level breathing techniques and that was about it. Each of these worthless sessions cost me another $125 each for 45 minutes. On top of that, their billing is a complete black hole. They don’t warn you or notify you about any of this until it’s too late. AbleTo's (owned by United Health Care) entire model is based on deception. United Health Care advertise the service as free and AbleTo mislead you into thinking the same. They prey on vulnerable people searching for help, then deliver subpar care at outrageous prices, after they mislead you into thinking it was going to be completely free. There isn’t even a way to cancel without calling them, they just keep calling you and charging you $125. Avoid this company at all costs! I have reached out to AbleTo and requested a full refund, but I highly doubt they will help :( I can’t afford the $785 and my mental health is worse than before as a result of their terrible services.

Avoid at all costs. This setup practices deceptive pricing by assuring you that your insurance will likely cover the charges when in fact they have no agreement with your insurer (Aetna), offer absolutely no discount, and charge you $300 for spending 90 minutes asking you all of your personal medical and mental health history. Even the therapists warn you to call and validate pricing, but NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE! This firm should be investigated by the federal government for fraud.

This was a nightmare and I hate therapy so much now, this ruined like months of build up of me actually trying to get help. I called for an initial consultation just to ask if it was covered by insurance and to see if I could afford it; they gave me a phone number to call after the consultation then brushed past it and dove right in. I really just set up the call to learn more abt how therapy works, to see if i need a psychiatrist and if they act as the therapist too, if I’m on the right meds or need diff ones, etc. It was a questionare, they asked the most face level yes or no questions and got annoyed when I dove into detail abt my scenario instead of just saying yes or no. They acted like it was a crime that I didn’t want to share with them the phone numbers of ppl I could call for support in my life. The whole time I felt awful and judged and when it ended they just told me the next steps and booked an appointment with themself, giving me little room to opt to a new person if I wanted, and I felt like analyzed rather than heard by the end of it. When I called later to ask abt the insurance they said it was not at all covered and the first call wasn’t free, it was $160. This put me in such a funk and I don’t really want to make an effort towards therapy again rn if I can get roped into stuff like this, it felt like a scam.
