My initial counseling went pretty well. $20 a session. $30 to get into the program. Then they called me to offer another 8 week course of treatment .... but I got a bill for $160 for initial review and then $60 for my first session. I called United Health Care to complain ... but they say that is Optum Behavioral billing... I called them and they say it was done properly.... that I have to call Ableto in order to get it resolved. Ableto is trying to fix the problem but seem very confused and are making me wait for 20 minutes to get an decision... still holding....

Two stars, because the therapy was helpful (although heavily scripted and focused on their app programs), however, their "free 8 week program" that my insurance promoted multiple times via email turned out to not be free. The email clearly said virtual coaching with $0 out of pocket. There was nowhere in the email or in my interactions with the therapist that there would be additional fees for each session. Turns out each visit has a copay. Found this out months later. I'm not really sure the therapy is worth the fees AbleTo is charging insurance, but again, it helped me out of my funk which was the whole point. Proceed with caution. Get pre-approval for the 8 week program from your insurance before your first visit, or don't do it! I can say their customer service was very nice when I had inquired about the disconnect between the email and the fees. The providers should include in their scripts that each participant should confirm with their insurance what expected billing will be prior to starting the program.

Disappointing and put me off therapy. Was paired with a supposedly licensed therapist and a coach. The coaching was very helpful. The therapist,Deborah, seemed like someone new to the profession who was just trying to meet a certain number of work hours. She was constantly late or absent to scheduled meetings, forcing us to have calls at more inconvenient times and never have an explanation or apology. Sometimes she'd try to redirect conversations to subjects outside the scope of what I was seeking help for, in a way that felt very unprofessional and dismissive, like she was bored by my actual problems and wanted to discuss what she thought was more entertaining on a personal level. This was my first experience with CBT and she was way too familiar, as though she were addressing a friend or peer and not a client. We only had two months and I got more from the coach, who was punctual and a better listener. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who isn't absolutely desperate for any kind of help. When you are depressed but high functioning, they don't know what to do with you. Most of the advice was very basic and unhelpful. You could learn more from a mental health Youtuber,and get support at a more sophisticated level.

The app is a disaster. No dashboard shows up when you go in to join an appt, and I haven’t been getting email notices for appts. That means there’s no way to join my session, and no way to let anyone know. I searched online and finally found a number to call, because the only thing listed in the online app is a help email. Representatives could not take my call - there’s no way to get help in the moment. Tried to leave a voicemail but their system cut me off in the middle of my message. This has happened 3 or 4 times in 6 weeks. Each time it is temporarily fixed and then happens again. It is not worth it from a frustration standpoint - my time is valuable, at least to me if not to AbleTo. My therapist is good, but it is all scripted and about checklists. Coaching portion is not what I expected and I feel like I already know what’s being shared. It’s sort of “therapy light” but perhaps better than nothing if you can’t find anything else. However, the cost billed to my employer is pretty high for the services provided, so I am regretting my decision.

Horrible company. I was trying it out as my Medicare Advantage plan under UnitedHealthcare suggested I try it. The first problem was that the first session was showing that it would be a phone call and not a video session. I do not enjoy having therapy sessions through phone calls only and much prefer video sessions. I called customer service and explained the situation to them and they reassured me that the first session would be a video call and not a phone call as my insurance covers video sessions. Well the day of my first session came and it was still showing that my first session would be nothing more than a phone call. This filled me with anxiety to the point that I had multiple panic attacks prior to my first therapy session. I tried contacting customer service via the phone number on their website twice in the afternoon to cancel services before the first session as I wanted nothing to do with AbleTo at this point. Both times that I called I was on hold for five minutes before an automated voice would say that I was calling afterhours and they couldn't help me before hanging up on me. I looked at the hours listed on their website and I was calling during the listed 9am-8pm ET Monday-Friday operating hours. I also emailed the customer support people multiple times to get my account canceled and they would either do absolutely nothing and not reply to my emails or send an email a week later saying they couldn't help me with my issue and talking about how they can't delete my medical records as I signed consent forms (something I wasn't even asking them to do and completely irrelevant). The first therapy session ended up going okay in the end and the therapist was nice and understanding and worked to get a video session going. It was just the initial assessment for therapy with the usual screening for mental health issues questions. After the session I did get multiple texts from the therapist I will be seeing with irrelevant memes which I wasn't a huge fan of. Honestly I just want to cancel my account (something I can't do on my own and must have customer support/service do for me) and move on to finding a better service or therapist. Also, it is my understanding that this company only gives 8 weeks of therapy and then stops supporting it's clients/customers. I'm looking something more long-term. The company seems like a scam as I have never had so much trouble canceling services with a company before. Customer service needs to be more accessible and there should be a way to cancel services and your account from the website. It is illegal in the United States to not allow customers/clients to cancel their accounts/services with a company. If I can not find a way to cancel services in a timely fashion then there will be a complaint filed against AbleTo with my insurance provider UnitedHealthcare and if that doesn't resolve the issue then I will strongly consider taking legal action.

The website is a little misleading and billing structure is very unclear. Seems way too overpriced even with insurance. A couple of my sessions consisted of the counselor talking about forms the whole time. While I appreciate deep breathing techniques and tips to improve my thought patterns, it doesn't seem worth $115 per session. My therapist was very assumptive and did not seem like a good fit for me. I did find some value in talking through some of my issues but the therapist seemed like she had a large case load because I had to repeat my story a couple of times. There is not enough value to pay $700 for all sessions. I would not recommend AbleTo.

I understand the value of streamlining therapy post pandemic, but this is ridiculous. I get 2 phone calls a week, they just check boxes (which I can hear them doing) and reading scripts. This is making therapy into as insightful as an online Cosmo survey.
