I concur with all the negative reports here. I also have been a zenfolio client for around fifteen years. I have just cancelled my account as, like others, archiving and restoring is a slow, clunky, nightmare. The thought of trying to download my galleries, which would also be a nightmare, has led me to the decision to reload onto a working alternative site from hard drive back-ups. Sorry Zenfolio, you have screwed up big time!

I have never been this livid with a company before. I am so upset about the Zenfolio's asinine decision to stab us and our customers in the back after promising unlimited storage for our VIEWING galleries -- and archiving our galleries and making it a full-time job to unarchive them IN LIMITED #s (we get 20??? ARE YOU SERIOUS). If I wanted a worst-case backup cloud, I'd have stuck with backblaze. They are now holding our pics hostage.... we can't transfer to another service without putting in months of unarchive requests, waiting for the download link AND THEN DOWNLOADING. and their archive viewer is the worst interface I've experienced since using AOL in the 90s. I'm livid about their changes and how much it has thwarted my workflow, client perception AND my own personal photo projects as a mom who has stored 12 years of pics on Zen, and now can't see any of them, much less share them with others, download them as I need them, etc. Everyone I've talked to said it is taking days to receive unarchive requests granted....and that is only 1/4 of the elbow grease required to get our pics back. 12 years with this company just smashed to smithereens. I've never been so utterly suckerpunched by a company.... after sticking with them through all their slow AF server issues, this is how they thank us for over a decade of loyalty.

I've been a customer of zenfolio for sixteen years. I'm not sure what Zenfolio is doing. They keep increasing their prices even as their platform gets worse and worse in terms of performance. The archiving fiasco is one thing, another is that basic features don't work, they don't support their classic app and the website is glacially slow. Today I tried to upload a gallery of images for a client. "Tried" is the operative word. Despite the platform showing all of the images were uploading, only about 1/3 of the images would be in the galllery. I tried to upload repeatedly, but finally gave up after ten tries. I'm not sure what Zenfolio is doing with the clients they have but this is not acceptable. There is no reason to stay on this platform

I have been with Zenfolio for ten years and am having to turn very negative towards them. The archive debacle has my clients of many years frustrated with me (not zenfolio) because they cannot access their content. Zenfolio you have lost my trust and it may cost me an account or two. 12 hour restoral promises are still not occurring after a week of attempts including customer service promising escalation for critical galleries. For now, having to switch my clients to my dropbox. Really sad.

They probably decided to go bankrupt. I am a customer for at least 8 years and have not had any serious issues with the site. The problems started in December 2023 when they decided to implement an archive scheme. I have contacted them several times in order to stop doing this with no success. A site that advertises unlimited space for your photos should provide just that. Nothing less. If you want to archive it should be up to you what are you archiving. Apart of this I had issues in December and January with customer orders. The customers paid, got a receipt but the order was never registered for me to see. A month later when the customers send me screenshots with the order number I have sent it to the company and passed it in the system. The customer support is not existent and they do not care about their customers. I have seen a lot of answers from them in this site, but not actions to rectify the situation. The tragedy is that this site was highly praised by professionals, winning awards as the best site for photographers from Photographic Societies. Now the tables have turned and the downfall is imminent. The featured I liked the best was that I could download customer favorites and make their albums in no time. Now with all the archiving I can no longer do this, which is frustrating to say the least. You could say that this is the last straw!

Total disaster archiving galleries no one can find anything looking at these reviews everyone seems to be of the same opinion. Any recommendations for an alternative

I've been using Zenfolio since 2013 and loved it until they began archiving galleries. This makes your photographs unavailable to you as the photographer and also to your clients. There is no notification of when the galleries will be archived, so you're on your own to notify clients and to download any galleries you may have been storing there. This process also makes it impossible to show potential clients full galleries/example galleries from their venue or with their vibe. Bringing galleries back from being archived is a very slow process and you're limited in how many permanently active galleries you can have on your site.

The first 7-8 years with Zenfolio were good. There were occasional hiccups with their slow uploading but overall it was acceptable. The past 2-3 years have been terrible and this new archiving scheme that they are forcing on everyone is a disaster! I have no idea how they thought this was a good deal for photographers. I believe they are trying to get the classic users to leave so they can go on to other things. There is no customer service. You hit their chat button and you might get a reply a week later. I would warn people to stay away from Zenfolio...I'm looking at other platforms right now.
