I used Joy (with Joy.com,) to RSVP for my friend’s wedding. As part of the wedding site they built, there was a section linking hotels in the area. Joy markets the hotel booking session as “discounted rates for wedding guests.” You are encouraged to book directly with Joy to see hotels near the wedding venue and receive a special discount. I booked a double-queen room for $340.42 total. When I arrived at the hotel, they informed me there is no double queen room and the third-party (Joy,) had overcharged me by $218.14. I was given a room with one full-sized bed. After my stay I emailed my receipt to Joy customer service and informed them of the incorrect booking and charge. The customer service team proceeded to gas light me, misunderstand my situation, and delay the issue for weeks until finally coming back to say they were “pleased to offer” me a $30 refund. By this point, I had already had to dispute the overcharge with my credit card company and received a refund directly from them. Despite being given appropriate documentation from myself and the hotel manager, Joy refused to rectify the situation. You are not getting a discounted rate booking with Joy. Wedding guests will be up charged a premium and never refunded. Please do not use this service.
