We bought the Whistle after reviewing many other GPS options for our Golden Retriever. After reading many reviews, we felt this was a good option. We live on 1 acre property which is not fenced in. So for the dogs safety and our peace of mind, we wanted her to have a tracking device. A few items to note/nuances: 1. I got a lot of false notifications that the dog had left my hard. I reached out to customer service, I was told my designated safe area was 'too small'. 1 acre of property was too small? 2. Make sure you sleep with your ringer off on your cell phone/device if you have it set for notifications. I get endless amounts of texts from the device that in the middle of the night, when she is sleeping next to me in bed that she is 'away from our house'. 3. The battery life and indicator is wonky sometimes. One minute the app will say the battery life is at 90% and then 3 hours later it would be at 10%. There was a software update to fix this bug - and i do think it got better. The best part of the device is the activity tracker to log the amount of exercise and activity your dog/animals gets on a daily basis. That's about the best feature of this particular device, which is why i'm giving it a 2 star. Ultimately, the performance of the device fails regularly. And, just to put icing on the cake, after 1 year and 4 months, the $150 device plus service plan and it no longer works. Upon contacting customer service, Whistle said it was my problem because there is only a 1 year warranty. And they would offer me a slight discount to purchase a new device. In my opinion, poor customer service. There is a reason there is only 1 year limited warranty because likely it will only last you about that period of time.

There are many things that I am learning about my beloved doggo. His sleeping habit, his licking habits, scratching habit, and his daily activity. It is helping me stay in tune with him as well as monitor any health issues that might come up. I got the whistle go explore and I’ve enjoyed having it on my dog. The nice added feature of a flashlight is great especially since my dog is mostly black and we take walks at night.

We’ve had a Whistle for our dog for about a year. We loved the Whistle3 so much that we upgraded to the Whistle Go Explore when it came out. It is so nice to see where our dog is at any given time and to see everywhere he has been. Since we live in the country and don’t have a fence, I like to review his daily tracks to make sure he doesn’t sneak off our property without our knowledge. My heart breaks when someone has lost their dog after some incident like a car crash or fireworks. Whistle could reunite so many people with their pets. My dog wears his Whistle at all times, except when charging. No exceptions. He doesn’t leave the house without it. In addition to the tracking, we like seeing how much he sleeps and the weekly reports of his activity. He has a nice collection of badges. So far he’s traveled almost 5,000 miles and has doubled his daily goal almost 300 times.

Excellent product with great features. Cannot put a price on the piece of mind this product provides me as a pet owner. Not that my pup is even a runner, it's great to understand and quantify the exercise and activity that my pup is getting. Highly recommend, great in-app experience and product usability.

I love Whistle. It keeps track of my dog’s whereabouts when we go on walks. It keeps track of his sleep quality, his activity hours, licking and scratching habits. Overall it’s a great tool for pet owners.

Ive been a customer of Whistle for 2 plus years. I like the service very much but after going through 4 trackers in 2 years I can honestly say that the tracker hardware thats used is not adequate. i called customer service with the same issue as before, after only a few months the device does not hold a charge for more than 2 days. I was told to do a hard reset and then charge the device overnight... same result. After calling customer support again I was told that the device will not hold a charge for more than 2 days since our dog is outside the wifi coverage in the yard (we live on 10 acres) or out exercising and after a number of excuses Sunny (customer service rep) told me that because the device is outside my wifi coverage it will only last 2 days, just like a cell phone. Really! That is not accurate. My experience has been with a new Whistle 3 device it will hold a charge for 6-7 days with the same amount of activity. After going around in circles with Sunny I was offered the newer device (2x the cost) with better improved battery life. This was not what I wanted or needed. What Id like is for them to replace the device that only had 8 months on it. That was not to be. Unfortunately I was so disappointed with the customer service experience that I cancelled my account.

Hi Dennis, I am sorry if I was not clear in explaining the battery issue in my earlier email! Your device remains more than 25% of the time outside WiFi range. Property as big as yours will definitely not be covered by WiFi range unless your use extenders. With device being outside WiFi range and constantly pings cellulars network for GPS signal it will force device to use more battery. Along with this device is getting older (10 months) and will have normal battery wear and tear which additionally impacts battery life. I hope I was clear in explaining the exact reason for battery not being holding charge for more than 2 to 3 days. Please let me know for any further clarification!

Our Airedale Terrier is very active and likes to roam our large acreage in the countryside. Once she got disoriented and ended up on a busy highway miles away! The collar is beyond amazing for both notifying me when she leaves the "safe area" we designated for her, and tracking her so that we can locate her very quickly. Another perk is the stats it gives of her daily mileage, rest time and even calories burned! We are really loving our Whistle!!
