My neighbors and I have had the whistle a little over a year now. I'm sad to say I'm not very impressed with the product and its capabilities. I find the tracking is not accurate or reliable. It only gets you with in 100-200 ft of the whistle and the address is usually wrong. If the tracker ever fell off of your pet's collar like in a grassy field I doubt you would ever find it. I tested out the tracker when we got it. My wife took our dog on a hike at the local park. 20 minutes later I tried to find them using the app on my phone. The app doesn't offer live tracking and it doesn't refresh fast enough to locate a pet on the move. So if your dog is running or moving, which most dogs do, when they run off you will be just following a ghost trail until the pet stops for a while. In the end, I was never able to find my wife and dog in a park that we regularly hike. I also find that if you live or travel to areas with bad or no cell service this will not work. After a year of use the battery doesn't hold a charge very long. My neighbors and I have to charge the whistle every other day now. Its very hard to turn on and off, so I end up just leaving it on all the time. It's also not very clear when it is on or off or what the battery level is. The app is annoying. It's constantly sending you notifications of your pets activities. Honestly, I don't really care about my pets activity; all I care about is finding my dog if she gets lost. So when import notifications come up, like the battery is dead or dog is out of the zone, you end up ignoring them or not paying enough attention to them. Unfortunately you can't customize the notifications. On the positive side, whistle is very waterproof. It's the only hope to finding a lost dog provided you have cell service and the battery doesn't die.

I happened upon WHISTLE many years ago when researching GPS options for my Akita puppy. At that time it was only in the R&D phase, but I liked the proposed product. Not knowing when or if there would be release date, I reserved a WHISTLE with a credit card. Five years later I received an email that the product was available! I initiated my purchase, and soon received the WHISTLE. It was not difficult to program, and if you need help there is good tech support. There were a few bugs in the beginning, but they have been fixed! The app is an easy download. It is installed on both my husband's and my smart phones, as well as our PC's. Our fur kid is obedience trained, but Akitas are known to be in the next state in 5 minutes with no looking back! If she happened to get loose, or was stolen, I would depend on WHISTLE to help me locate her. I am very satisfied with the product, and hope I never have to use it. BUT, if the situation ever arose, it was worth the wait! The subscription is yearly, and very reasonable.

I live out where our dogs can run free/without fences - so when it's dinner time, or its time to bring them in the house, it's nice to know where they are! This has been a lifesaver time and time again. I'll never go without it. So far my 3 collars have worked perfectly (and my dogs are mudders & swimmers). One time the charger broke - but Whistle customer service was amazing!

This thing is great but has one down side. When my dog runs off and you try to track him down the tracking is not in what I call real time. By the time I get where my pooch is supposed to be he's down the road a bit. You have to track/refresh GPS to find again and that takes a few seconds for the unit/cellular data to locate again. My dog has seen me coming and will run away so this makes this a bit of a pain but at least I know about where he is. Other that that this is great. I often move the base and dog to my parents and load that location as home with the geo fence and mom has the free app on her phone and gets the notifications/texts/emails etc. great piece of mind knowing he can be found and not have to wait for someone to find him and call the number on his collar. I lit works on kids too. Unit is small and I charge battery every 5-7 days weather it needs it or not. App tells you battery percentage. I just wish they could get the tracking closer to real time.

For the most part everything works really well with this. I do, however, sometimes have issues with one of the whistles showing my dog outside of the zone. I have tried resetting it, reconnecting it to a different port, etc. For some reason it just doesn't work.

I live outside Detroit, where dog theft is rampant. With the whistle on their collars, I don't have to worry. I am notified when they leave the yard, able to track their exact location, it notifies me when the whistle needs to be charged, when it is done charging, how much activity and rest they get each day. It's amazing and a lot of security.

I've used the Whistle since it first came out. I have two homes so I use two base stations. It works flawlessly and enables me to provide my pet with the proper daily exercise he needs.

I have never lost my dog, but I trigger the Whistle from time to time to make sure it's working. It takes up to several minutes to get a location. I wish it were faster, but I kind of understand the technology and why they have to do it this way to save battery and cellular data costs. The location accuracy isn't nearly as good as the GPS in your cell phone. The Whistle's location will generally be 10-30 feet off, occasionally far more. This is certainly better than nothing, but you can't trust it to get you to the exact backyard or field where the dog is hiding. But the real missing feature would be a way to page the device; to trigger it from your phone to start beeping or playing a tune like the Tile device. I understand that this paging would take several minutes to start for the same reason that it takes several minutes to get a location on the map. But having the device play sounds would help find the dog once you get close. I wish it were smaller because I have a 14 lb. dog and it's way too big for her collar. I attached it to her harness instead and it works pretty well there.
